Wow. I'm stunned at the wii numbers to be on top this week. I thought more people would be discussing this surprise, but people seem to be more interested in the ps3 boost, which was good for me, but not amazing. Wii had a sales increase last week and this week, so ioi was right in the end after he got a lot of flack for it last week.

I was slightly dissappointed in wii sales after the price cut, but not anymore. I think it'll do good this holiday.

Looks like the ps3 and wii, the two most doomed consoles this generation, are not so doomed anymore. Now it's xbox's turn.

to put things in perspective last year at the same time Wii sold 407k units.

Next week the Wii has to sell 427k units to match last year number.

So the Wii increase is nice, but is the price cut going to allow the Wii to match or pass last year numbers these holydays like some predicted, not really so far...

I think everyone understands that the wii isn't doing as good as last year, but people seem to forget that last year wii was doing crazy numbers and this year it simply came back down to normal successful console numbers.

I can flip it around and say that ps3 numbers were so shitty last year, that it didn't take much to improve upon them. I just think sony fans are going a little far with their optimism. Wii still outsold it over 110,000 this week, which is not a small number.

I understand your argument though that wii is still down YOY, but my answer to that is duh! Last year was just a crazy year and it couldn't stay that high forever. But I also don't expect it to do as well this holiday as last year, but perhaps near as good. I'm just happy the price cut did help it out.

I'm probably sounding like a wii fanboy here, but I'm not, I love my ps3 too, and glad that it's doing better now. Just stating what seems obvious to me.

SONY WILL NOT cut the PSP Go's price, during christmas it will likely sell some 1 million units world wide or more in December , that is EXCESSIVELY high profit for sony, if it costs them like $120 to make a psp, its over $100 million in profit. They need it, since hte ps3 slim is likely costing them money, the PSP GO will likely negate that, and then ofcourse we have software and PS2 hardware to contend with.

wanna bet?

Getting to half of that figure will be a feat for the PSP GO

It's hard to say without knowing the breakdown of PSP-3000 to PSP Go sales. Last December PSP sold over 2.5 million units. Considering PSP sales are slower this year, something around 1.50m - 2.00m is more likely. Will over half of buyers choose the Go over the 3000? Considering the price, I wouldn't count on it. Still,  something around 750,000 would be a fine payday for Sony.

As usual great DS sales. Pretty much understood at this time. Even better is it isn't that far down from this time last year which is quite impressive. Wii sales are really doing great right now. Seems to be quite a hit in America after the pricedrop. Doing relatively better in E/O but nowhere near that of the America jump. Japan is well a different story for Wii... and sadly PS3 as well. PS3, as noted, is still staying quite strong and gets a little boost thanks to Uncharted 2. Looks like it won't have to many significant drops and will carry strongly into the holiday season. PSP is still not showing too many signs of great things but at least got its boosts to make a better few weeks. Finally, 360... well needs help. Elite price drop doesn't seem to be having too many affects and ODST didn't really help. We'll see if it's holiday lineup and low pricetag can help better holiday sales but right now 360 is in a little bit of a slump.

Only ioi can tell us the current breakdown, no-one else.

But in its first week PSP GO sold some 80K

in Australia it opened to less than 1K

basically, it isn't looking good for it

you may see 750K....but I see it doing 500K & no more

a Million is out of question imo, unless Japan loves it so much!

The Wii is still selling better than the PS2 did (even without the support that the PS2 had and with much fierce competition than the PS2 had) so I don't really understand those who are trying to bring down the Wii, I think it's desperate.

and if you go on it only gets worse.

First week of November last year : 485k units

Second week of November : 554k units...

Third week of November : 648k units

yeah but why don't you continue it into december?  Because you know it will easily crush the december numbers from last year.  Wii sold 1 million NPD in Dec 08, it willl easily sell 2 million this year if not closer to 3.  It could have probably sold 4 last year if it wasn't supply constrained. Wii had a mediocre holiday season in Japan in 08 (topped out at 150k, same as gamecube same year), was severely supply constrained in NA and some European countries.  Wii will not match Novembers numbers, but it will make those numbers up in December.

currently playing: Skyward Sword, Mario Sunshine, Xenoblade Chronicles X

^^ True, that's helping it to sell FASTER. Doesn't mean it's going to top the PS2's overall # though.

I agree with you (although I still see a little chance), there are many factors that are playing against the Wii. Nevertheless it has achieved a lot of things that will be rarely seen again and the fact that it did it with a lot of thigs going against it make it all the more impressive.

wow, ps3 destroyed 360 in europe!! it will be very hard for crosoft in this area this holidays... for exemple for french people, its all about ps3... in my shop i can see the fall of 360, it' arround one 360 for 6 ps3 sold!! (today it's 12 ps3 for 2 360 cause the ps3 250go bundle with pes 2010) I don't understand french gamers sometime because 360 is a great system... anyway, Uk alone can't keep the 360 in the top in other... but in america, ps3 has a long run to pick up 360... i think ps3 never catch up 360 in usa! for japon... ok, it's japan... 360 don't exist for them...

360 is DOOMZZZZZZZ
