to put things in perspective last year at the same time Wii sold 407k units. Next week the Wii has to sell 427k units to match last year number.
So the Wii increase is nice, but is the price cut going to allow the Wii to match or pass last year numbers these holydays like some predicted, not really so far... |
I think everyone understands that the wii isn't doing as good as last year, but people seem to forget that last year wii was doing crazy numbers and this year it simply came back down to normal successful console numbers.
I can flip it around and say that ps3 numbers were so shitty last year, that it didn't take much to improve upon them. I just think sony fans are going a little far with their optimism. Wii still outsold it over 110,000 this week, which is not a small number.
I understand your argument though that wii is still down YOY, but my answer to that is duh! Last year was just a crazy year and it couldn't stay that high forever. But I also don't expect it to do as well this holiday as last year, but perhaps near as good. I'm just happy the price cut did help it out.
I'm probably sounding like a wii fanboy here, but I'm not, I love my ps3 too, and glad that it's doing better now. Just stating what seems obvious to me.
