Wow. I'm stunned at the wii numbers to be on top this week. I thought more people would be discussing this surprise, but people seem to be more interested in the ps3 boost, which was good for me, but not amazing. Wii had a sales increase last week and this week, so ioi was right in the end after he got a lot of flack for it last week.

I was slightly dissappointed in wii sales after the price cut, but not anymore. I think it'll do good this holiday.

Looks like the ps3 and wii, the two most doomed consoles this generation, are not so doomed anymore. Now it's xbox's turn.

to put things in perspective last year at the same time Wii sold 407k units.

Next week the Wii has to sell 427k units to match last year number.

and if you go on it only gets worse.

First week of November last year : 485k units

Second week of November : 554k units...

Third week of November : 648k units

So the Wii increase is nice, but is the price cut going to allow the Wii to match or pass last year numbers these holydays like some predicted, not really so far...

yeah but why don't you continue it into december?  Because you know it will easily crush the december numbers from last year.  Wii sold 1 million NPD in Dec 08, it willl easily sell 2 million this year if not closer to 3.  It could have probably sold 4 last year if it wasn't supply constrained. Wii had a mediocre holiday season in Japan in 08 (topped out at 150k, same as gamecube same year), was severely supply constrained in NA and some European countries.  Wii will not match Novembers numbers, but it will make those numbers up in December.
