Forums - Website Topics - Advertise systems in sigs...what compels people to do so?

I hereby suggest that all Sony fans write down the prices for ps3 and games in their sigs.

Eh, I never really understood it either. For me it's been about the games since 2005 (or late 2006 for Wii and PS3) anyways, so bragging about the hardware has been pretty much moot.

But in the end it's not that big of a deal, and the world keeps on a spinnin'.

Whatcha talkin about Willis?

Eh.

Pretty much every time you share your gamercard for Live you're doing an advertisement for the 360, though not in so many words and it's harder to notice because it's disguised as a service rendered to the player.

As to why?

I would just assume that some people care too much about console "loyalties".

That's an interesting point, but I would argue (for me at least) that it's helpful to use if people want to know what your gamertag is, and it's interesting to see what other people are playing.

themanwithnoname's law: As an America's sales or NPD thread grows longer, the probabilty of the comment "America = World" [sarcasticly] being made approaches 1.

It's ok, you're safe. You don't have a price tag on.

Showing the logo alone is advertising IMHO. The whole point of brands is for them to get recognized and remembered.

Oh, no doubt. For that reason it's excellent advertising, but it's still a form of advertising. Hell, I like gamertags! If I had my 360 hooked up to the net more often, I'd have mine on display too.

If you want to get technical, there is no Xbox logo on the image, and the only way you'd be able to figure it out is if you already knew things, such as games and features available, about the brand.
