That's an interesting point, but I would argue (for me at least) that it's helpful to use if people want to know what your gamertag is, and it's interesting to see what other people are playing.

Showing the logo alone is advertising IMHO. The whole point of brands is for them to get recognized and remembered.

If you want to get technical, there is no Xbox logo on the image, and the only way you'd be able to figure it out is if you already knew things, such as games and features available, about the brand.
