Forums - Nintendo - Good riddance to everyone who does "core game tests."

I don't like that "test" stuff either, if developers didn't want to take a risk in making a Wii game then they should have made their game GOOD, not a mediocre "test", as if that was any indication of what people want. If a game was good and appealing it would get people interested.

for me personally, even if Dead Space Extraction got awsome reviews i still wouldn't want it, it's an unappealing game to (and many others by the looks of those sales). also, i tend to lose intrest in a game that's been marked as a test game.

I do agree that test games deserve bad sales, but i don't agree that developers deserve to shut down, many hardworking people would lose their jobs that way and they didn't have much of a say on what to create as their game.

but yeah, test games suck!

so, let me get this straight... the game isn't "good", not due to review, but due to the fact it was marked as an 'test" game?

What about those un-'test' games who also recieved good reviews? NHM, Zak and Wiki? Do they also deserve bad sales?

Zack & Wiki was a colossal failure but No More Heroes wasn't. It sold over 300,000 copies. On top of that, it was Suda51's best selling game.

Save your breath. He's been banging that same drum for nearly two years now; if the game's publisher isn't going to change his mind, you're certainly not going to.

Okami on the Wii did well enough to get a sequel on the DS, so I don't know why people are complaining about that.

When a game "fails" on the Wii, it gets a sequel for some reason.
When a game fails on another console, it puts a giant company out of business, and locks up many classic franchises in legal gridlock or development hell, or we just lose them forever. Or even worse, they get bought by EA.

shouldn't you be more concerned that these test games (and actual games?) are failing?

What's interesting is that when traditionally core games come out for the wii, sales stay constant. And when there are very few, the sales drop.

Who here, who has a Wii, can name a game that they really really enjoyed, but lost money?

The No More Heroes fans are getting a sequel. The Okami fans are getting a sequel. Where are all the diehard Deadly Creatures fans moaning about not getting a sequel?

Deadly Creatures is one of the worst offenders here

"Cmon guys. Lets see if there´s some hardcore market for the wii, alright?

So, lets release a regular hardcore game to test it

I know: a spider and a scorpion. This is our game. These are the type of heroes games got today, right?

Lets call it "Call of the Spider and Scorpion: Unleashed""

Later, marketing dept settle down with another title, so they could set apart the game from other hardcore offerings on the Wii

The fact that this by the numbers but amazing game failed is undeniable proof that the wii has no market for mature games.

Your sign says everything!

Thread over...I mean: This, 100%

Bet between Slimbeast and Arius Dion about Wii sales 2009:

If the Wii sells less than 20 million in 2009 (as defined by VGC sales between week ending 3d Jan 2009 to week ending 4th Jan 2010) Slimebeast wins and get to control Arius Dion's sig for 1 month.

If the Wii sells more than 20 million in 2009 (as defined above) Arius Dion wins and gets to control Slimebeast's sig for 1 month.

Also wil people stop this test game nonsense. This is what the Wii gets, they are not tests, these are IT. If you don't like them buy a new console and stop whining about them.

Don't you think that Wii owners would have already bought another console if it really had what they wanted?

No, I think some people spend money on a console and feel the need to try and justify that spending by complaining/demanding better/different of it rather than admit to themselves they may have made the wrong choice and wasted money.

Is not a stance unique to consoles, happens for any product.

What about those that bought the Wii partly for Nintendo games?  I did, of course, but that hardly means I don't want some of the games on the other consoles as well, games which the Wii could perfectly handle.  And whining sometimes pays off (The Conduit, for example).

Okami

To lavish praise upon this title, the assumption of a common plateau between player and game must be made.  I won't open my unworthy mouth.

Those games all made money.  Hell the No More Heroes guys threw a party.  Who throws a party when they lose money?

Maybe they all just wanted to get really drunk? :P

My two favorite Wii games may of cost someone money.

MLB Power Pros and MLB Power Pros 2008.  It made the original company money, but 2009 didn't release in the US "Because of the economic climate."

So either they didn't make 2K sports money or the profit margins were really thin.

It's a shame too since someone told me that the 09 version has 5 RPG modes instead of 1.  Power Pros is by far the best baseball series created.  I'm actually playing it on my Wii again right now.

Making a sequel does not mean that the game has made profits. It could also be that the devs are trying to recoup some of their losses by using the stuff they have already created to make a cheaper game.

Judging by your previous post I am pretty sure you would accept that if we were talking about those other consoles.
