Why is it that lately I'm always hearing that Wii owners are not hardcore gamers. The sales are not bad but still i keep on hearing it everywhere:

One of the reasons this argument is always foolish is that no one bothers to define what a "Hard-Core" gamer is ...

Every developer who produces a nichè title assumes that the people who buy their game are the  "Hard-Core" audience; every developer who produces a big-budget blockbuster assumes that the people who buys their game are the "Hard-Core" audience. Who are these "Hard-Core" gamers and what makes them more desireable than the rest of us? Why am I a member of the unwashed masses, unable to be worthy of the respect of being "Hard-Core"?

Totally agree HappySquirrel, I own all last gen consoles along with DS, Wii, 360, PSP and getting PS3 this christmas but yet I fit into the casual gamer bracket cos I really enjoy the most playing Wii games as the wife loves them and we really find it fun to play together.

Spend about 40 hours a week playing games (i've actually took this week off work just to play phantom hourglass and the orange box and chill for the week) yet thewife and I are classed as casual users by these stupid articles.

There's no such thing, as the wife is into gaming also we dont have a budget to spend on games, we just buy them if we like them and as the wii is her favourite console and the wife always gets last choice these people dont seem to realise they could have a lot more of our money if they were a bit more savy.

i buy metroid i buy mario games ,the legend of zelda, god of war, and killzone but i like games like wii sports, guitar hero, GTA, and madden and i cant wait for wii fit and super smash bros brawl

Yep, "Hardcore" really is just a term for nerds and fanboys and is mostly used in baseless arguments against another. I just don't know why people feel that they MUST be superior to others.

Hardcore gamers are people who play games almost everyday

A real hardcore gamer is someone who doesn't shower and plays pen and paper d and d allday, while working on sql code in his basement. Preferably while working as a gm for a mmo.
