You do need to buy the wifi unless you have your cable modem next to your TV and want to buy an extra router or something weird. I mean who the hell has wired connections through their house these days? You certainly need to pay 100 for wifi to make it equivilant to the what the Wii and PS3 get for free from day one.
You are required to buy the 120GB hard drive beca
use the 20GB is patheticly small AND a third of it is taken up by system crap before you even can use it. You can't even install more then one game on it before its full.
Yes live can cost less then 7 a month if you pay for a year in advance, but its still over 50 bucks (with sales tax) which is rediculous compared with what using YOUR internet connection to play games hosted either on your console or the console of the guy you're playing against should cost, 0 dollars. Again every gaming system EVER has had FREE online play from the earliest online play on the PC to the PS3, Wii, DS, PSP, Iphone/ipod touch and all the rest, its free across the board as long as you use YOUR high speed connection.
I mean are you seriously going to argue that the 360s rape you in the a** accessory and online play prices are rational and/or a good value? I mean come on.
Also the PS3 is the top selling console worldwide AND in the US through September.
And what game library are you talking about? There are 3 9.0+ games released in just the last two weeks that are PS3 exclusive compared (Uncharted 2, Demon Souls, Ratchet and Clank) with more or less nothing but another Halo retread for the 360 a month ago. Every good 360 game comes to the PC and usually the PS3 meaning good exclusives are more or less a one way street in favor of the Playstation.
The best games in virtually every category are either PS3 exclusive or on the PS3.
Shooter: Resistance 2/Killzone 2/Call of Duty4 exclusive/exclusive/multiplat
Platformer: Little Big Planet exclusive
Adventure: Uncharted 2 exclusive
Third Person Shooter: Metal Gear Solid 4 exclusive
RPG: Demon's Souls/Valkariya Chronicles/Fallout 3 Exclusive/Exclusive/Multiplat
Younger Crowd Action: Ratchet and Clank games exclusive
Sports: all the good ones are multiplat except the best baseball series, The Show, is PS3 only
So what does the 360 have? I guess in the sub category of best game staring space marines they have it covered since their only good exclusives Halo and Gears both involve that, but neither are the best shooter around. They have Forza 3 which is barely ahead of Need for Speed Shift (multiplat) until GT5 comes out and blows it away just like GT4 blew away the original but thats it as far as I can tell.
So the PS3 has the value, the games, the blu ray player, the free online play and the performance. I literally see no advantage the 360 has other then price if you don't need a bigger hard drive, wifi, online play or any other amenities.
