Forums - Sony - Could Uncharted be the new GTA for PS3?

Uncharted doesn't have a gimmick to push sales like that. GTA had that "ZOMG I killed a cop" or Wii Fit had "Never need to go to the gym again!" gimmick. Uncharted's awesome is less tangible. Harder to describe and harder to hype.

no please do not expect it to

it will sell less than a third of what GTA 3 sold

The game you are looking for may be The Agent

but its too late for a GTA type killer app to come now anyway

the GTA of this gen was the Wii franchise

BESIDES

MGS4 >>>>>>> ALL as sabby said!

Ahem?

OT: No. GTA is a franchise that sells over 10 million per game (main series). Uncharted will be lucky to do half of that per game.

Psh, you act as if you're excited for the game.

"We'll toss the dice however they fall,
And snuggle the girls be they short or tall,
Then follow young Mat whenever he calls,
To dance with Jak o' the Shadows."

MGS >>>>>>>>>>> Everything else?

Sorry but I just don't agree. The series is a fantastic one, but I honestly believe the series is given far too much love. I, personally, had more fun with Uncharted 2 than with MGS4. I loved MGS4, don't get me wrong, but damn. Uncharted 2 just feels a lot more natural, doing just about everything.

No..we have question how long UC will live as a franchise, SONY known for using a new patch IP's per gen. If UC does live its gonna need a waaaaaaay mega caimpaigne

Gran Turismo, God Of War, Twisted Metal, Ratchet & Clank, Hot Shots Golf, Warhawk, Killzone, Syphon Filer, SOCOM, SingStar, Buzz!, Wipeout, Siren, and all the sports franchises have all spanned multiple playstation consoles. Syphon Filter and Ape Escape are the only ones that may not make it to the PS3, and even then I would be surprised. So I don't think you have to worry about Uncharted being dropped as a franchise. As long as it continues to sell half of what it sells now, you wont have to worry.

ND like to start a new franchise each console generation. Crash - PS1. Jak - PS2. Uncharted - PS3.

It doesn't have the mass appeal to become as financially successful as GTA. If, however, you mean a series that represents the PlayStation franchise, well there isn't just one, but Gran Turismo is probably the flagship franchise at the moment.

I don't think Uncharted can get the same following GTA has. I mean everyone loves driving over hookers and shooting cops but not everyone loves a game like Uncharted (for some reason)

I'll do a signature later

Too linear and no enough hookers.

Pixel Art can be fun.

According to Rockstar AGENT will be the GTA of Ps3.

Because uncharted is 1st party, it can't be the GTA nor tomb raider of ps3, because GTA and tomb raider are defined as the 3rd parties exclusives that made the Ps2,ps1 respectively.

I would say Uncharted 2 is more like the god of war or Crash Bandiccot of Ps3. Since god of war and crash were 1st party that defined the ps2,ps1 respectively.

lol...there are some crazy threads these days...

GTA 1 and GTA 2 were very fun games and went unnoticed because they lacked the visual polish.

GTA3 improved on the formula while ading the visuals game deserved and bumping the narrative to movie quality level. Also it introduced the word "sandbox" to the masses. Thats a lot of new things GTA3 did...

Uncharted 2 seems to be amazing game but 2 words that I have yet to hear describe the game are "new" and "innovative". You have to do that to stick out like GTA3 did...

Not to mention the contraversy around GTA that Uncharted will never have
