Not really. Just a few days ago Miyamoto spent like, an hour and a half or something, talking about it. Videos have been launched promoting the more hardcore side of it. They obviously want the hype, because it does work when your game is mainstream and really good. Look at SMB3 for instance.

Wii Music was a new IP that a lot of people made fun of from its very conception, whenever any videos were shown for it, and after it was launched.  And the media panned it even before it came out as a 'casual game for non-gamers' and a 'failed experiment'.

New Super Mario Bros Wii is a game going back to Marios roots utilizing the core gameplay and concepts of most of the best Mario games of the past (Mario 2, 3, World, Galaxy and NSMB) and adds many new gameplay concepts to the mix (co-op play being the most prominant).  Plus nearly everyone, from gaming fan to critic alike, is showing interest in it.  I don't think it has any of the same stigma Wii Music had.

Thats what Nintendo wants in NSMB Wii. Then surprise us afterwards. I will not be surprised if there are many people thinks and say this game was a DS port when in release

I would be surprised if no one said that :P

Really, but I doubt a discernible amount of actual players will be thinking so. Their product this time is tried and true, and looks like it's complete and polished as you'd expect a Mario game to be. I can't see what the reason would be to expect it to fail.

Im sorry if Im harsh but I think core gaming sites should stay away from NSMB. Its not for core gamers they should hyped COD 12 and Halo 6 more.(I included the spinoffs and console ports)

I'm surprised. You're telling core gamers to hype casual games like Halo and Call of Duty.....

I really dont consider Halo and COD to be a core game, but core gamers and HD consoles can have that... Its been milked to death anyway the franchise I mean. As long as coire gamers and sites dont consider NSMB Wii as a core game. Im sorry its not I dont like core gamers personally but I dont like what core gamers represents on the Wii.

My point is that good games are usually hyped regardless of what kind of game they are.

They hype up niche games, forgetting that they are niche. And most of those games on the HD systems are online, not retail (with exceptions like Valkeria Chronicles).



A flashy-first game is awesome when it comes out. A great-first game is awesome forever.

My point is that Nintendo isn't stupid to do bad Mario games. This game will rock easily.

Don't forget that third parties are cursed... Because they aren't able to produce good games. Still Nintendo always doing great games instead of sit and wait 'til someone makes a good game for their hardware (Sony, anybody)

I do not agree with Sony's way to make business. I do consider their console as a hardware made for third parties.

Nintendo is the only company that gets all the acclaim. They're always doing great games that overscored, like Mario Galaxy, and they are still there for u. If you fell in Sony's trap, this will mean that you forgot how video gaming must be done: simple, with the best gameplay and not TONS of functions to cover the horrible gameplay just as other companies are doing.

I do have more fun on Punch-Out!! than I had on Fallout 3. And I'm a core gamer, a true core gamer, and probably the best gamer ever in Donkey Kong Country 2 :P

You will have a lot of fun with these excellent games, and for months. Then SMG2, Metroid Other M, Zelda Wii, Sin and Punishment 2, Red Steel 2 and you're okay! Don't forget Nintendo is gonna change their console near 2011. Sony will probably let their PS3 on the market. Dunno with M$
