Forums - Gaming - Bayonetta gets 40/40 from Famitsu (12th game in history)

Funny how this is the 6th time in the past 2 years >_>

Seems to me the trend is getting easier :P

But I'm really happy for Platinum Games I want this game to take off big time for them.

Well I don't know how good Bayonetta is and in my opinion this review doesn't tell me anything.

I don't take Famitsu seriously at all with their review scores, generally they are only good for telling when a game is bad, anything 30+ though you can't actually tell how good it's going to be.

I think the point is that not a single game before Ocarina of Time ever got full marks. Not Mario 64, not Final Fantasy VII, not a single SNES game and then we have 6 games in the last two years getting full marks.

They can do what they want of course, but if it were me I'd want to ensure some consistency over the years so you know that a game that got 35 back in 1992 is as good as a game getting 35 today.

This! Ten times over!  The boss has spoken :P

I know it's just Famitsu and all that, but this has me really excited. Nobody seems to have any expectations for this game and it makes me sad :(

I assume you mean a 35 is a good relative to all the other games released today, rather than if you were sitting down now, and you had a game from 1992 which they gave 35 and a game from this year which they gave 35, you would enjoy both equally?

Wow never expected Bayonetta to recieve full marks from Famitsu...

Really? Bayonetta is a better game than Tekken 6 which got 34?

More to the point, it's better than Uncharted 2, which got 37?

Hey, look, no non-Japanese game has ever gotten 40. What a shock.

No suprises there. And yes the fact that Uncharted 2 got a lower score than 'perfect' Bayonetta is really annoying.

I actually don't have complaints about the previous perfect score games but from what I've seen from Bayonetta, it's definitely NOT a perfect game, and I mean both the PS3 and 360 versions.

They're pretty much saying that Bayonetta is better than any Uncharted game, Gran Tursimo game, Grand Theft Auto game, God of War Game, Halo game, Gears of War game, Call of Duty game, Team Ico game and any other mega hit games and series.

Everyone has their own preferences but seriously, I HIGHLY DOUBT that Bayonetta is better than any of the game series mentioned above. Man even judging from most of the gameplay I've seen of Bayonetta, I personally reckon it's on the same level as Devil May Cry 4, a game that didn't get the perfect score.

I'll be playing this game next year when it comes out and I'll enjoy it since I like Bayonetta's gameplay and style but I can just tell that it won't be any better than DMC4 and definitely not worth being given a perfect score.

Typically yeah I have as much fun or sometimes even more playing games from yesteryear, sure its not HD or hell even 3D most of the time doesn't make it any less of a damn good game, hell there's a repacking of Pac Man every few years and people still love it musta been then first 10/10 eh ;)
