It's not just not having BC Montana, it's how what Sony tells it's customers changes.
Going from:
"Backwards compatibility, as you know from PlayStation One and PlayStation 2, is a core value of what we believe we should offer," to "backward compatibility is a nice secondary consideration, but it's far from the number-one priority."
That kind of stuff gets to me, if a cheaper console of Wii came out with no BC, I just wouldn't buy it. However, if Nintendo did a switch flip and decided to scrap the Wii mote in place of graphics at the PS3/360's level I would be furious.
