BC actually isn't really gone its just not installed. Sony never said anything about not making new BC software eventually. It just will take a while, 10000+ games isn't really an easy amount of games for software to run. Plus the PS2 is dropping $30 in price soon according to analysts and some Sony execs. $399 PS3 + $99 PS2 = $499 and you dont have to buy them both at the same time, and the PS2 can be found used for $79 now so after the price drop they will be maybe 59? 49? not a bad price.
