The PS3 will be within 4 million of the XBox 360 by January 1, 2010. The PS3 will overtake the XBox 360 by July 1, 2010. So the gap will be minus, PS3 will be in front of the XBox 360 in console sales by mid 2010 and PS3 will have a 5 million lead over the XBox 360 by the end of 2010.

Well theres still I think 9 or 10 weeks of PS3 domination to be had before 2010 so I'd say PS3 outsells 360 by 75,000 per week so the gap should be just over 6 million. As much as I love PS3 for the gap to close to 5 million would mean the PS3 outselling 360 by 200,000 per week.

For your prediction to come true the PS3 needs to sell 18 million in 2010.
