Dude I was 5'6 and 160lbs and the thing claims im overweight. Yet the average American is like 30lbs+ more then me.

the average american is fat... just saying.

when i was 17 was 5.1' 110lbs.

=(.

i gained a bit, but require eating mcdonalds everyday.

The US, UK, and Mexico are the fattest countries.  Though this is probably accurate, the US and UK report accurate data whereas most countries only provide estimates due to poor health systems.

OT: When I first "played" Wii Fit it claimed I was overweight and made my Avatar fat.  It was actually rather motivating.  Fortunately, I am much lighter now but I am still saddled with a Fatatar.  BMI does not take into account body type, nor overall muscle mass.  BMI is also used by world health organizations to judge the fattest countries.  Unless it can be adjusted for muscle mass, BMI is not overly accurate.

Thanks for the input, Jeff.

It says I'm on the lower end of normal. Just over 5'10", 126lbs.

You guys are so tiny.

It just counts BMI and BMI does not work at all. I am overweight according to wii fit, which is just rediculous.

6"4 and 230lbs.

@KingArthur:  You may be a lean and fit 230lbs, but if you are you don't need to be taking health or fitness advice from Wii Fit and know there are better ways for you to judge your health and fitness.  Wii Fit isn't really made for you.

Every second guy comes into threads like this saying that BMI is useless and claims that it wrongly states they are over or underweight for various reasons.  Guess what, it certainly will be 'wrong' for some people but some  probably just are under and overweight by medical standards and that has implications for one's health. BMI may not be the be all and end all but to say it doesn't work at all is wrong.

I'll refer you to a previous post on the topic and an abstract from a study published in the Lancet using data from nearly a million people.

Most European countries have better health care systems than the US, they report well. People in the US just have a very different lifestyle than Europeans, one that tends towards being overweight.

The odd thing is, our definition of "overweight" relates to normalcy, not to the health effects. Recent studies have shown it's better to be overweight than normal weight, and it's worse to be underweight than obese, in terms of life expectancy. This is likely due to the fact that while there are health negatives from being overweight, having extra weight increases your chances of surviving many illnesses.

(I say this as someone who is underweight)

A game I'm developing with some friends:

www.xnagg.com/zombieasteroids/publish.htm

It is largely a technical exercise but feedback is appreciated.

its a feature nintendo added to make them use the game more and then after 2 weeks it says "your fine"

a Dutch TV show once showed how what I am now saying is not a joke.. they also did a article on PS3s not reading discs and 360s RRODing and Scratching discs.. its very detailed and they actually say there is a code wich remembers who you are and after a certain amount of time says your no longer overweight..

ill try to find the video.. the same thing was in braintraining for DS I think

he asked a simple question, how did this turn into obesity rates in argentina?

All hail the KING, Andrespetmonkey

Maybe you entered your sex wrong. I think that adjust the ranges too.  It says "that's obese" to some people, so it definitely doesn't always say overweight.

66.7% of Americans are obese or overweight:

42% of French people are obese or overweight:

Here are the numbers for European countries according to the EU commision:

Some are pretty bad, but if you sum up obese and overweight, and average over men and women, none are as bad as the US.

If your tall dont worry.

I'm 6 ft and My low end BMI is like 11 and a half stone.

If I was that skinny I would need hospitalising.

Unless you are a hardcore gamer, in that case you are fine and you have no use for Wiifit
