Forums - Nintendo - YOU'RE OVERWEIGHT! does it always say that ? =[

well, i tried using the Wii Fit ages ago at my friend's house and tried calculating my weight, it said im overweight, but i agree i was kinda heavy,i tried doing some of the games, and liked how it is designed

(also puzzling is that why does it try to make me lighter when some of the trainings build muscle mass , which makes you heavier not lighter but thats another topic)

now after 1 year and a half (i think) after last time i tried it (now its Wii Fit + ) it still says im overweight! even though i go to the gym daily! and i lost a ton of weight from last time , oh and my friend is super skinny , he tried it , and it says he is overweight too, i mean, Wtf is it designed for Birds?!

lol i guess no one used Wii fit here?

Dude I was 5'6 and 160lbs and the thing claims im overweight. Yet the average American is like 30lbs+ more then me.

It's just that simple.

LOL. It's based on BMI, which doesn't know the difference between muscle and fat. I suggest you don't take it too seriously.

Personally, I think Nintendo should have de-emphasized BMI and the judgmental 'overweight!' in Wii Fit Plus. They had to include it, since it's the only way to estimate how fat a person is knowing only height and weight, but they shouldn't throw it in a user's face every time they load up Wii Fit. A lot of people find it discouraging/offensive.

I believe it said I was suppose to be 130ish.

I was hardly that weight as a toothpick in High School.

I just got into the ideal weight category, up until now I'd been in the underweight. (I actually am trying to gain weight because I am way too skinny)

Don't take BMI as perfect. First of all remember that it makes no distinction between muscle and fat. And I'm not entirely convinced by where they put the barriers between ideal and overweight tbh.

If you are going to the gym daily, you are probably quite well muscled, which could be why it's saying you are overweight.

Also, you should make sure that the height you entered for yourself is 100% accurate - don't just guess, get a measuring tape

I'm 5'11-6'0 and I weigh 143lb. It doesn't say I'm overweight.

Lol thought so, and the fact im building alot of muscles with the gym doesn't help it

Then yes, Wii Fit thinks everyone is overweight. =P
