I'm not a hyper conservative that believes nudity and sex is wrong, I'm just saying the nudity got alot of press. When the game was come out, before I even knew what the game was I knew it had nude scenes in it. It was everywhere. And Are you really going to argue that teenagers don't like boobs, and that god of war isn't marketed towards the teen to young adult male demographic? IGN, gamespot and the like probably didn't give it a boost because of boobs, but I'm sure nudity+violence helped move a few units.

Sony never had a mascot. At the PS one time you had Crash Bandicoot but it was not Sony who used him as a mascot magazines were just comparing them.

For me, as always, is more matter of piracy than real sales, a lot of people has played the game, but just a small percent of them have bought an original game...

BTW, IMO is not a System seller, if almost nobody wants to pay $60 for the PS2 version, none of them would like to pay $400 + game for the PS3 version...

Sony did try out a mascot in the form of "polygon man" around the time of the PSX launch. They dropped it soon after.

And the commercials definately made direct comparisons, such as a guy in a crash costume going to Nintendo headquarters and yelling into a megaphone telling Mario his days are numbered.

I guess Mario won.

I'm just saying that if you want to see those kind of boobs you can go on wikipedia or just open an encyclopedia and look up Aphrodite, and there you go, socially defendable and artistically rendered exposed boobs.

A Dragon Quarter avatar! Holy crap... surprised anyone else even remembers that game...

one of the best rpgs of last gen ^^.... so underrated..

I loved Dragon Quarter. Once I realized you were SUPPOSED to fail, that retrying the game made it easier, I got pumped. So awesome. One of my roomates was even more nutty and went through all 50 levels Kokon-Hore to fight Dva, yikes.

One of my other friends tried to Ironman it right off the bat and gave up when he lost 6 hours of progress *facepalm*

Everyone else was pretty much scared off. I really hope Capcom tries a non-FF clone BoF again...
