Honestly, the forums are essentially the same they were last year only with different people. I'm sorry your nostalgia is kicking in and you are getting disenchanted with reality. For every thread you link in the forums now that is "flamebait thread" I can link you to another just as bad thread from last year.

Monti was actually being helpful by requesting some examples of flamebait threads so they can be dealt with by the mods.

Im not sure I agree with the J man, the forums have been pretty peaceful I rarely notice any flamebait threads. The quality of the forums might have gone down due to famous posters leaving or being perma-banned

Of course no console game will always be better than a PC racer, even older racers like GPL are still better than most if not all console racers nowadays ;)
I think that this generation of consoles will give us the most close experience to PC racers, but they still have some way to go.

Eh, I'd say that we've seen improvement from a month or so ago:

1. GT5 vs. F3 threads. Much less prevalent now a days... (Forza 3 Cloud graphics >>> GT5 Oh Em Gee!)
2. PS3 Slim threads. (I myself have really never understood hardware threads, as its been about the software since 2006 anyways.)
