Looks like it's on the PS3 for the long haul, I don't care that much though since I don't enjoy being beaten into the ground repeatedly by a game. I don't think it would sell well on the 360 anyway.

Also, I can think of a few examples of Microsoft owned IPs coming up that they own but "second party" (whatever that even means) are handling them: Alan Wake and Crackdown 2, and you could even count Halo: Reach. So yes, it does happen occasionally.

Microsoft owns Alan Wake?

I don't think M$ owns the IP...they just have publishing rights...so I don't think there is any chance of the game ever porting to the PS3.  This wasn't a timed-exclusive deal, like the ones with the Japanese developers.  M$ seems to basically contracted Remedy to produce the game...but of course, IP ownership isn't Game ownership.  This situation isn't the same as Mass Effect, but it's similiar.  it's taken them 5 years to produce Alan Wake, so that freaking game had been be the bomb dizzle!

Does anybody have a link to Demon's Soul's IP ownership...this might be a similiar case...I know M$ financed Ninja Blade...and got robbed, imho!

Yeah, I am a bit confused as to how to phrase it. There is definitely a more solid relationship between Microsoft and Remedy than Microsoft and BioWare. Considering Remedy is letting Microsoft decide on a PC version or not, I assumed they had some kind of control, definitely more than I think they do or has been made known with Mass Effect. I think the situation is probably more similar to Epic and Gears of War?

themanwithnoname's law: As an America's sales or NPD thread grows longer, the probabilty of the comment "America = World" [sarcasticly] being made approaches 1.

The removal of the PC was a dead giveaway...but to use the movie analog...is there an agreement, that M$ has first pass on the IP? Alot of Marvel's IP with Studios were languishing, until Disney snapped up Marvel, then A WHOLE LOT of project awoke, and studios began working on them.

Demon's Souls is developed by SCEJ (JapanStudio) + FromSoftware

SCEJ = Sony Computer Entertainment Japan.
so it wont happen.

I'd like to make it clear, about Ninja Blade and Demon souls.
Ninjia Blade is a 360 exclusive partly becasue it's producer is quite a 360 fanboy, at least he himself talked that in FAMI 360 magazine (Although this guy are now making a ps3 exclusive game 3D DOT HERO).Of course MS probably financed NB.
While for the Demon Soul's, it's a different story. It's announced by FAMI as a project by SCEJ※FROMSOFRWARE, and a Scej Japan Studio guy who made a presentation in a latest JAPAN GDC like conference and talked about how he made the game(DS) he wanted, is the producer of the game.
So, someone said MS had a chance to take DS is misleading.

It's not about who created the game, it's about who owns the right of the game.

Unfortunately, the one who owns the right of this game is also deeply involved in creating this game.
