you all seem to forget the xbox360 is longer on the market. (xbox360 since 22 nov '05 & PS3 since 11 nov '06) if you look at the same life span, the PS3 OUTSOLD the xbox360 by 3,9 millions. with the very strong lineup where is coming on PS3, i don't think the gap will melt in favour of the 360 where also has a strong line up to come but as some of you already mentioned, the games are mostly sequels where already make an appearence this gen -> no big HW sellers. on the PS3 it's different with GOW3, GT5, FF13, R&C etc...

lifespan argument was proven wrong so many times, but I don't blame you, you are new on VGC. The Dreamcast had a headstart as well.

Have you seen GT4P's sales compared to GT4 itself? Take a look if you haven't.

 

FF13 = Exclusive in Japan, where it'll have a strong impact. That's why he mentioned it.

 

As for R&C, that's true. I guess he mentioned it because the PS3 has a lot more momentum now compared to back then.

He may be right, he may not. But when you say 'we will' about future events its still just a prediction. I'm sure MS will do all they can to make it come true. But nobody knows if the 360 will outsell PS3 for the whole generation. Why does an obvious PR statement that cannot be considered definite as its about future events get so much attention?



Try to be reasonable... its easier than you think...

how can the argument get proven wrong if it's a solid fact???

microsoft managed to build a lead of 5'332'537 units as they were 'alone' on the market from the 22 nov '05 to the 11 nov '06. from that point on where sony entered the market with the PS3 to now microsoft sold 27'175'612 xbox360 and sony 25'262'274 units. but if you compare the sales of both from launch on with the same life span, there were 21'358'405 xbox360 sold from 22 nov '05 to the 10 oct '08 & from the 11 nov '06 to the 10 oct '09 sony sold 25'262'274 PS3 where makes a difference of exactly 3'903'869 units more in favor of sony.

now explain me why we should forget the solid fact the xbox360 is longer on the market and so build an advance compared to the PS3? this advance is a fact, that's it. the rest is purely bullsh*t.

p.s.: i follow this site much longer then i'm registred & i don't give my two cents on all useless thread/post, so don't come with a sentence i'm new to this site. guys with a lot of posts where behave arrogantly makes me puke!

of course they are only talking about the US, anywhere else sony has clearly the upper hand.

I've been asking the very same thing. People just can't bother to look at it from a business perspective.

      I think that will be offset by the 250 gig model.  Can you imagine how well PS3 would be selling if they bring the 120 down to $250 when the 250 gig comes out?

      I don't think it would be that funny for the other consoles.  It would put PS3 back within $50.00 of Wii, the price difference that existed before Nintendo saw how successful the PS3 was at being at $299 and caused Nintendo to have to lower the Wii's price in response, so they would have to lower the Wii's price by another $50.00 and that would mess up the pricing strategy they have for their handhelds, and the 360 has shown that even with a $199 Arcade and a $299 Elite they can't beat the PS3 worldwide, so if Sony brought the PS3 down to $250 and had even stronger sales, Microsoft would have to lower their prices even more to keep up.

     Is it really a win for Microsoft if at the end they have to bring the Arcade down to $100 to guarantee a win?  I don't think that would look too good to their investors.

 

 

Nintendo didn't lower their price in response to the PS3 slim, they lowered it in response to slowing sales and the concern that they wouldn't hit their targets, that was well before the PS3 slim was announced, in fact slim sales didn't affect the Wii at all, Wii kept selling around 180-190K a week


     While the PS3 was selling about 100,000 more a week and had sold over 200,000 more.  They knew from their experience being outsold by the PS3 at its old price 3 months in a row earlier this year in Japan that the Wii can't tangle with the PS3 with only a $50.00 price difference.
