Forums - Sales - Let's see how Sega is doing this generation...

Lately I've come across some threads that have shown how development houses have done thus far on the different systems. So I thought it would be interesting to go and look at Sega in particular (because they're the most awesomest). So here's how they've done so far, in regards to game sales for DS, PSP, 360, PS3, and Wii.

Sega's Million Sellers

1. Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games (7.18 million)

2. Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games (4.44 million)

3. Sonic Rush (2.90 million)

4. Sega SuperStars Tennis (2.31 million)

5. Sonic & the Secret Rings (2.06 million)

6. Super Monkey Ball: Banana Blitz (1.27 million)

7. The House of the Dead 2 & 3 Return (1.07 million)

8. Sonic Unleashed (1.02 million)

9. Love and Berry DS Collection (1.01 million)

10. Sonic Rivals (.94 million) Missing Others Data

11. Sonic Rush Adventure (.47 million) Missing Others Data

Well, that's all of Sega's million sellers thus far on the current generation platforms (although there are a couple of games, like Sonic Rush Adventure and Sonic Rivals, which are missing data that would send them over the million mark). Pretty interesting to see Nintendo owners support Sega in such a way, even to the point where Sega has had its most successful game ever (Mario & Sonic on Wii) on a Nintendo system. Expect another million seller soon (er... make that two) with the new Winter Games. As a Genesis fan back in the day, I still can't get over what a 180 Nintendo-Sega relations have become.

Speaking of the Olympics, PS3's most successuful Sega game is Beijing Olympics (.68 million) and it's Sega's #2 on 360 (.59 million) behind SuperStars Tennis (which was heavily bundled for a while). In fact, Sega has had more success with the PSP than the PS3 when it comes to big game sales. Sonic Rivals (.94 million without Others data) and Phantasy Star Portable (.77 million) are just some of the games on PSP that Sega has had success with.

So, I'd say that as far as developers go, Sega has definitely had some major successes this generation. Even Sonic is seeing some big sales, despite some gamers calling for his retirement. So I'd say that Sega is doing great, and that makes me a happy panda.

Why is Zoo Tycoon on that list? THQ published it in most regions and it only sold .01 million units in Japan.

Pixel Art can be fun.

You only posted to point out a (blatant) mistake on my thread and not about the greatness of Sega?! Curses.

*fixes*

This list is lying. After all, third party titles clearly don't sell well on Nintendo platforms.

Could I trouble you for some maple syrup to go with the plate of roffles you just served up?

I am so proud of SEGA i dont even know how to express it...I wish them the best success they'll slowly but surely commin back.

You also forget Sonic Rivals which lacks updated European numbers which would also put it well over a million.

I kno ur tryin to be funny...but SEGA regardless our opinion of them is a pretty big name in the industry + they have SONIC. it easier for them to find success than alot of the smaller less known developers

Good sales for Sonic Rush (And thoroughly deserved too)

Sega also have a HUGE back catalog of games and franchises that they can fall back on.

Very few Dreamcast games have been re-released so far THIS gen and then theres the untapped Sega Saturn market that they could unleash onto XBLA, VC and PSN too.

Long live Sega.

Bah, I skipped over your Sonic Rivals mention. Still, my point is the same though

@The Kitchen Sink
Well what can I say? Sega does what third parties don't!

But then again, you must be right. I was skeptical when I saw successful sales, but a successful M rated title as well? Impossible!

@Xxain

Yeah, it's great to see them doing well, even if they're not part of the hardware race (I miss them ). And why do we have to face each other in the tournament? Sonic fans need to stick together, but they're tearing us apart! *cries*

@Ronter

Cheers! *clinks goblet*

@Outlaw

Ah! Good catch, I'll be sure to update the thread. (I knew I was right to vote for you!)
