Forums - Sony - Resistance 1

Resistance played like an average shooter to me. The graphics were terrible, but forgivable being it was released so early in the PS3s life. The weapons were fun, but I really felt the naration was detrimental as it just interupted the game. Early levels were crap but it picked up later, and as many have mentioned, co-op was great fun.

Resistance 2 was better simply for the 8-player co-op for me. The campaign in 2 also had more 'epic' moments but it was still lacking something. I actually enjoyed the campaign more than the first (excluding the cheap invisible enemies). I would have prefered being able to carry more than 1 weapon though. And multiplayer, the sequel is just plain better. Similar gameplay but with more people, and just a generally larger scale.

If it came down to it, there are other shooters I prefer to both Resistance games. CoD4 has a more intense campaign with some really amazing set piece moments, and has a better multiplayer, and HL2 & Killzone 2 campaigns are better than either of the campaigns in the Resistance games imo.

Basically, I disagree :P

I just played through resistance 1 a couple weeks with a friend it's still a great game, the graphics aren't bad at all. It's a well made shooter period. Better game than Resistance 2, which i was majorly disappointed with (the colorless art direction of the first game isn't that bad of a thing like everyone made it out to be originally)- only good thing about resistance 2 is the online co op mode which unfortunately gets repetitive after awhile. And regular competitive multiplayer was never anything special to me.

It still really seems unforgivable they'd cut out split screen on the campaign when they had it in the first game, in favor of an off shoot and completely different story-less co op mode, I know insomniac kind of had to rush resistance 2 with KZ2 coming out a couple months later, but it just ruins the game for me. I'd still love to play the Res 2 storyline with a friend but you can't, you have to deal with the brutal difficulty alone.

The resistance demo isn't a fair representation, much like how most demos never are (in a storyline based game). The games start out with a certain pace, and that's kind of thrown off if your thrusted into a tough spot, it's not the same as actually starting the game from the beginning. Much like how the KZ2 demo doesn't really represent kz2 fairly, the res 1 demo is the same way. The demo actually has 2 levels on it, if you pause and go to the second level it's better looking than the first one.

i liked it better than R2 but thats just me

Long Live SHIO!

I liked R1 but I liked R2 better.

R1 was a great game with the story and atmosphere. R2 was like another world completely, but I enjoyed both.

@Montana: The game is vastly better than the demo IMO in regards to the graphics. I don't think you would ever be confused with a Sony fan though, more like a system nomad lol.

It remains to date the only FPS I "got into"

but I still didn't like it much

basically I think I don't like the FPS genre

All hail the KING, Andrespetmonkey

Idk why people think the graphics were so bad, they werent horrible

PLAYSTATION®3 is the future.....NOW.......B_E_L_I_E_V_E

Consoles owned: Game Cube, Gameboy Color, Gameboy Advance, Nintendo DS, PSP, PS1, PS2, PS3.

My prediction: NATAL WILL NOT help 360 sales. Maybe a 50-100k boost week 1, then a 30-70 k boost week 2, and back to the norm again after 3-5 weeks.

my first ps3 game and I enjoyed it... I had crazy hours with the online I think it is my most played FPS of all time.

I'm not martin luther king. I don't have a dream. I have a plan

Sell a man a fish you feed him for a day. Teach a man to fish you just ruined a perfect business opportunity.

We didn't emerge out of the stone age because we ran out of stones. Its time to be proactive not reactive.

i liken R2 better

No, but they didn't feel like much of a step up from the previous gen. I already had PC games that had much better graphics than the orginal Resistance, and released a yr or 2 earlier. However, seeing as it was released so early into the PS3 life, I think its forgivable.
