I'm a registered independent.

I have voted for a Republican President and I have voted for a Democratic President.

But my political beliefs have nothing to do with this.

The reasoning for this is to outline what I've been seeing over the last two years in the world of the comically titled "Console War".

I could get off on a tangent about how disrespectful it is for fanboys to even use the term "war" in this so-called video game struggle. And I could further illustrate how laughable it is that they are worshipping an inanimate object and attempting to compare it to men and women that are currently putting their lives on the line for a common purpose. Those parallels don't exist. And never will.

However, there is one parallel that DOES seem to make sense (at least in my eyes) that I wanted to elaborate on.

"Is it just me, or do PS3 Fanboys act like Today's Republicans?"

Today's Republicans
Were in power for the last two terms and just lost it recently.
Are absorbing criticism from all sides since the power change.
Are far more aggressive, outspoken, and have resulted to name calling to get their point across.
Makes excuses for its administration and refuses to criticize it's own party.
Lost the election to a new (almost gimmicky) opponent that preached CHANGE.
Much older constituency than its counterparts.
Won't admit stealing ideas from their opponents in order to appear "younger" (Facebook Usage, Texting, MySpace Usage).
Overspending over the last few years and losing sight of what they are. CONSERVATIVES.

Sound familiar?

Today's PS3 Fanboys
Led the last two generations and just lost it recently.
Are absorbing criticism from all sides since the Wii and XBOX360 took control.
Are far more aggressive, outspoken, and have resulted to name calling to get their point across.
Makes excuses for Sony and refuses to criticize when they make errors.
Lost the lead this generation to the Wii that brought in a new way to game (motion control).
Much older fanbase than Wii and XBOX360.
Won't admit stealing ideas from their competition in order to compete (motion control, trophies, sixaxis, rumble, etc.)
Overspending over the last few years (Blu-Ray) and losing sight over what they are. A GAMES CONSOLE.

Look, I like to get into debates with the Left AND the Right every now and again. It allows me to delve into their minds and see what makes them tick. And why they allow themselves to be THAT passionate about something that at the end of the day, is beyond their control. But I always respect them for taking that much pride in American Politics and caring what direction this country is heading at any given point. Take health care for instance. It could affect their day-to-day living. I get that.

But Fanboys are different.
They're putting that same passion into a piece of plastic.
And unfortunately, the PS3 Fanboys are the worst of the brood.

So PS3 Fanboys...

I'm urging you to grow up.
You're the oldest of the "Next-Gen Generation" and need to start acting like it.
No more name calling.
No more petitions.
No more flooding Video Game Websites with hate mail because (insert game here) didn't get a high enough review.

The Wii was and IS revolutionary.
XBOX Live is too.

Deal with it.

You haven't played much Halo 3, have you? If you even start to talk to someone intelligent (provided you're lucky enough to encounter an intelligent person on live) about a good PS3 games, you'll have every member of your family sexually insulted by immature little fanboys with high voices. I think that's worse than most PS3 fanboys.

You have a few clever similarity, but tons of glaring inaccurate ones. The Wii has far more of wider userbase and hence they'll have more older people than PS3 or 360.
