Forums - Nintendo - IGN Top 100 NES GAMES -- 100 - 81(Mega Man & Mario Bros LOW)!!

Secret of Mana is among your favourite games? Really?

I find that one extremely buggy and borderline unplayable without multiplayer. It is a great game with multiplayer though, but the strategy elements are weaker than most menu based console RPGs.

You don't like RPG elprincipe. Don't you?

I don't like boring-ass menu-navigating games where all the fighting is done for you and there is no strategy.  Some of my favorite games are action-RPG and strategy-RPG though (I love such games as Fire Emblem, Secret of Mana, etc.).

So you prefer action-RPG it seems. FF and DW1-4 did have a lot of strategy to use during battle. Personnaly, I like some good action-RPG like Faxanadu, The Adventure of Link and Crystalis, but I prefer Dragon Warrior and Final Fantasy for their battle system and level grinding.

Btw here is my personnal top 10 :

1. Dragon Warrior IV
2. Dragon Warrior III
3. Double Dragon II
4. Mega Man III
5. The Legend of Zelda
6. Ninja Gaiden II
7. Mega Man II
8. Castlevania
9. Faxanadu
10. Dragon Warrior II

Yes, really.  Secret of Mana is a masterpiece and I'm sorely disappointed there are few, if any, similar games to be found on any system over any time.  Although there is some slowdown, I don't find it "borderline unplayable;" in fact, I've beaten the game dozens of times.  The varied gameplay is great, multiplayer is a blast (easy to get in and out of too for people coming and going), awesome graphics, enemies, especially music.  I can't say enough good things about this game, easily the best thing Square has made over the course of its existence.

If there's one thing I can't stand, it's level grinding.  Mind you, I did beat the original Final Fantasy back in the day.  I doubt I could get 1/10th of the way through it today, but I did give it a chance.  Not much strategy at all involved with the game, at least to me.

Crystalis is a super game and one of my favorites on NES for sure.  Faxanadu is also very good.  I can't give too many compliments to Zelda II as I never really like that one too much.  Anyway, Battle of Olympus destroys it in every possible way.

Except Battle of Olympus can't be considered as an RPG (it lacks RPG elements such as experience points). But it's a damn good Action-Adventure game.

I know, there is too many good games on the NES. I will have to do my personnal top 100 someday.

I think we should do a forum top 100 list for nes, but we can't use some stupid voting thing, I think we need a discussion of the top 100 and carefully plot out the top 100, my brother and I made a list some time ago we could use as a starting point, and preferable a discussion between members that have a pretty good knowledge base of the nes
I'll start the topic, I hope to see a all of you participate
