In all honesty, it probably shouldn't. While it is a more loved game than Zelda 2, Zelda 2 is the superior game. Super Mario Brothers III is the defining game of the generation and the game I think will win....
Then again, I see Dragon Quest 3 getting #96 as lunacy, so it is very unlikely my thoughts will be reflected in their picks.

Why is Ice Hockey all the way at the bottom of the list? I liked it more than Blades of Steel (I still own both), that game was obviously technically superior but Ice Hockey is just tons of fun. It's one of my favorite sports games, no joke.

Ice Hockey is about 3.7 times the fun of Blades of Steel.
It's funny, all my favorite sports games are either on the NES or the Wii, except for the arcade/SNES NBA Jam.

Suffice to say, these guys didn't play these games in any amount of depth, otherwise Dragon Quest 3 would be no lower than top 10, probably top 5. Other classic NES games wouldn't rank so low.
Putting Dragon Quest 3 at 96 is the equivilent of putting Final Fantasy X at 96 on a PS2 list.

because your opinion and tastes constitute empirical evidence right? Personally of nes rpgs I'd take the Ultima's over dragon warrior anyday but that's just me (note I liked Wrpgs before it was decided by the interweb that they were better than the completely different jrpgs for no reason)
this is a subjective list, noone should think it is perfect as it is a culmination of opinions
anyway I wonder if any of koei's insane strategy games will make the list
