So I won't be completely lost if I haven't played the first one storywise? I may just have to pick this up then.

Well you would need to check up on wikipedia or something for what Freeman's role was in the first one. You'll still have fun with the game but it's was odd for me playing it with not playing the first one since I wanted to know more about the story. |
The story isn't really that interesting or fleshed out. H-L2 is more about the characters, and HL1's story basically takes place in two parts. The beginning, and the end of the game, with some hints along the journey if you look really close.
Of course, there is a mythos behind the games, but you won't understand that unless you read about it. You certainly won't find out much from actually playing the games. They are more situational based.
I don't need your console war.
It feeds the rich while it buries the poor.
You're power hungry, spinnin' stories, and bein' graphics whores.
I don't need your console war.
NO NO, NO NO NO.

Naaah you should play HL2 on the PC with the Cinematic Mod on MAX settings:

Half Life 2 for the orange box (PS3) is not to glitchy, but episode one was filled with them. Getting stucjk on the map, areas loading into nothingness, and freezing. Havn't played episode two, yet but I hope valve tried harder on this part of the game. For shame valve for shame. Still really enjoyed the whole experience though.

Valve had nothing to do with the PS3 version.....
HL2 + episode 1 and episode 2 are best single player experiences you can get in an FPS. So much variety, and freedom to tackle enemies as you wish... None of the COD BS of "pick up rocket launcher to stop the tank!!!" over and over...what if I don't want to get rocket launcher?
Anywho, HL2 and Halo 1 to me are 2 FPS games that will never be topped as far as single player campaign is concerned. The genre is too saturated now for anything to stand out as those 2 games did...

Explain and I might agree,.

Valve did not port the orange box to PS3. Another company, under the direction of EA, did.

Wow. Those are horrible! I would prefer playing with the original Half-life models over those.

That's also possible with this mod.
I prefer the new models though.
