No one is bashing COD4...I was personally just saying that the single player of COD4 isn't as immersive, intelligent, varied, paced and fun as HL2...

COD4 is a wonderful twitch shooter with amazing production and some truly spectacular moments.

You people forget that COD4's hook was the mp, not the single player... Like MW2 is almost out and we are only getting mp footage from IW. And rightfully so, as they know what the fans of the game like.

I guess I really enjoyed the single player due to having an interest in military tech and geo politics. I understand it's very black and white from a political point of view but for popcorn fun one can't go wrong with it. I hope MW2 has just as good single player.

are you F*ck*ng Kidding me? "Unplayable"? are you new to the internet? of course it's playable! Half Life 2 ran fine. Episode 1 ran fine. the only part where there is crippling slowdown is the glass platform in episode two where there was debree falling from the top. other than that it's A-OK.

CoD4, as Zen points out, does have some great moments, but it's short and unfocused next to HL2, it's also has far less variety and shows that while IW are masters of combat set pieces, they aren't master of narrative flow over an extended time with proper moments of ebb and flow.

But to be fair, given that Half Life 2 is all about SP, with the MP left to other titles, it does have a perhaps unfair advantage over most other titles.

Why does every post I make end up the last on a page!  I think pretty much every post I've made last 8 or 9 days has ended up lost at the bottom of the page... it's a cons[iracy, and I'm going to break it by quoting my own post!

...Anyone here played Crysis of STALKER: Clear Sky....
No matter what modding is done, an issue with the graphics for HL2 is the low poly count, something that DX11 will really show up (Tessellation looks ammaaaaazzing)

Somebody's got to be in the minority!

I wouldn't dream of trying to push others to change their views, I just find myself landing with what seems to be a majority view (definately among PC gamers particularly) that Half Life 2, for SP campaigns (no MP, no online, just you, the levels and the experience) is the one to beat for balance, variety, flow and strong characters.

Is that a typo?

Cuase I have played Crysis and STALKER: Clear sky, but not Crysis of STALKER: Clear Sky.
