This might be a good time to buy a XBOX 360 and Wii but if you're looking for a PS3 I recommend maybe waiting a little longer as i believe the price will drop yet further in the year to come. And the best games haven't been released yet for PS3 either

@ W29

For PSP it's God of War Cains of Olympus not Chain of Memories.

Sorry about that....I'm so tired right now...Working at the hospital can really drive me nuts....But thanks for the correction...

Is now a good time to buy a videogame console?
That depends entirely on you. Do you have:
- the money?
- the time?
- games you want on any of them?

There, if you answered positively to all of that, then the answer is "whenever you want".

It is a good time to buy a DS and a PSP. If you like Kingdom hearts then you will be happy to know that both those handhelds will get a Kingdom hearts game.

If you only can buy one then I would recommend you to check the lists of games that are on those handhelds.

The Wii, X360 and PS3 are "Expensive". You should better wait some time to buy one. If you have a PS2 then their are still games that I would recommend you and if you don't own a GC I would recommend you to buy one. The GC is very cheap and his games are cheap you will have a lot of fun with it.

DS is definitely where you will get the best bang for your gaming buck. Always a recommended purchase.

oh and welcome

Help! I'm stuck in a forum signature!

I always say that if you can find 4-5 games you can put 15+ hours into, then you should get the system. If I were you, I'd go Wii.  Of course if you know you will buy SMG and SSBB and others, maybe now is better than in the middle of the holiday season. Of couse this is if you have the finances. If not, go DS. If not that, go PC (you already have one!). If not enough money for that, go board games (Arent too expensive)

NOTE: If you have 500 dollars laying around, a PS3 makes a nice paperweight =P

First of all, welcome to the forum :)

I think you should look at the games each platform offers right now and then decide if you want any of them. Don't count on titles with release dates more than a few weeks away, because those might:

- be cancelled for that platform
- be severely delayed (sometimes indefinitely)
- turn out to be something different from what was expected

I would also recommend that you think twice before buying a PS3 unless you don't like your money. The PS3 seems to be sinking (losing exclusives, unstable in terms of models being offered). Not a bet most people should take unless they're sure they won't regret it.

The Xbox 360 and the Wii seem pretty well guaranteed for the future. The Xbox 360 because it has good 3rd party support which has been getting stronger every passing week, and the Wii with its spectacular sales which are also attracting more and more 3rd parties (besides its 1st party games which would probably be enough to attract many people by themselves).

I totally agree with all your points from this post...its true..I got to learn also, not to plan for titles in the future, because it messes me up bad. PSP for example. Really was expecting GT Mobile, but that game hasn't had any news since it was announced when the PSP was coming out. I will strictly make a list in regards to whats out now or in the coming weeks. Instead of planning ahead.

you cant really go wrong with either a DS or 360.
wait till smash bros or galaxy to get a wii
psp's also getting some great titles
i wouldnt get a ps3..yet....espically if your easing back into the gaming spirt.

DS: This system covers every one of your favorite games. It's cheap, it's got good battery life, it covers a great variety of genres (except Shooter), and has the vast majority of announced current and future 3rd party support. Get this.

Metroid Prime DS is a good FPS (Yeah, I know, adventure. This game is clearly a FPS though if you play it) and I have heard that Brothers in Arms DS is a good game as well. So between those two games its not really terrible for shooters. Its a shame it doesnt have more though, its control system is really quite good for them.

Please stay and don't let the trolls get to you.  Even though it can be extremely annoying sometimes to see one of the usual suspects come back with a new sock puppet to cause trouble you can't allow them to see it get to you because that is like handing them a victory.  They all have different reasons for doing what they do (some simply feel their console is bashed or treated unfairly and they want revenge, others want to gloat about their console's success or attack others while they're down, others simply have no real motivation other than to cause grief, etc).  The best way to beat these a**holes is to simply not give them an audience, it's like the screaming kids you sometimes see in stores, if their parents simply ignore them then they usually stop after awhile (of course a spank on the bum and taking the kid immediately home would also probably work but unfortunately for us it's impossible to give these trolls a good bitch slapping).

As for the trolls, if any of you are reading this I want you to know I truly feel sorry for you.  Instead of acting civilized and enjoying the forums, making good friends, and getting the most out of it you choose instead to waste your time posting crap that won't change anyone's mind about anything.  Life is short so if you're going to spend some of your precious free time on forums like this you should at least make the most of it.

yes now is the perfect time
