Forums - Nintendo - WTF, Wii Zapper gets PEGI-18 rating in UK?!!?

I did indeed mean liberal on censorship, I know we allow a lot on tv that isn't allowed on US channels and I expect that would carry over to video games.

And politics wise, banning hand guns and hunting are liberal ideals rather than conservative, although even the consertives were behind banning hand guns.

An what the hell is going on, in the UK we used to look across the pond at the USA and Think wow they have some Christian guys who want to band a whole load of things and band it happens too us,

how can the Zapper be an 18 game, that is just crazy lol,

If its dangerous for kids make it a 12 or a lower weighting

Someone should tell PEGI just incase they dont give it a 18+

 http://www.pegi.info/en/index/

At this momeny only 6 games have an 18+ on Wii.  Scarface, Godfather, Splinter cell, Driver, RE 4, and Mortal Kombat.

I slept on this and... I think its a good move on their part. It forces parents to be parents. Kids can't just go to the store and buy a zapper. They have to ask their parents permission, and get thier parents to buy it for them. Whats wrong with empowering parents?

Around the Network

They can't buy from the shops, but they can get them on Ebay.

Wii - 3348 5602 9364 2110

Mario Kart - 0474 1321 9262

Nothing...but I don't think the Zapper is one of those things that require such permission...my opinion anyway.

M rated games obviously, but an accessory that most would consider T-rated, that comes packed with a T-rated game (Zelda...it's T, right?)...it doesn't seem like the kind of thing we should focus on restricting.

Bet with disolitude: Left4Dead will have a higher Metacritic rating than Project Origin, 3 months after the second game's release.  (hasn't been 3 months but it looks like I won :-p )

I think it's totally going the wrong direction. All it does is make the parents lazy and not watch after their kids, letting the government babysit for them. And I don't think anyone will agree with government babysitting your kids is any good.

Many 3rd world countries, which considered to be police state, people fled to countries where they can have freedom. Ironic that the countries with freedom are slowly falling into police state as more and more unnecessary laws are created. (I am looking at you, United State of America)

Aren't liberals in general anti-gun, pro-animal welfare types?

Or do I have the completely wrong idea of liberal?

Liberal has very different means in different parts of the world.  In America, a liberal is generally someone against censorship, for the legalization of marijuana, that supports the ACLU, wants to reduce gun freedom.  In a general worldwide sense, liberal is generally someone that is for someone open world markets and is more excited about allowing the growth of globalization then controlling people.  Liberal might mean something besides the worldwide meaning in the UK, just like it has a special meaning in America.

But we all seems to mostly agree on this anyway.  The people in power in the UK do not like guns so if this turns out to be true, it makes sense.  There are also efforts in England to ban knifes and such. http://news.scotsman.com/uk.cfm?id=579102005
