No, that's very accurate. And even if it was it's still sad that those 2 sentences would turn this into another console war thread.

this is just another one of those dumb threads that are basically sayin " Nintendo does everything and nobody else has done anything"
@CGIquality I mentioned Littlebigplanet as the ONLY game giving the PS3 a mainstream identity.
Bungie does not belong to microsoft anymore, so obviously they don't care abouy Halo being first party. But ok, 1 for MS, 4 games for Sony including the game the ICO is currently working on, 5 if heavy rain turns out to be shenmue-ish.
It's still nothing compared to the integrated game companies, and companies like Capcom or Blizzard. LittleBigPlanet sold well, but wasn't a mega-hit. None of those games will ever become as big franchises as say, warcraft or Zelda.
I LOVE ICELAND!

It matters because they don't have as much of an incentive to put make games products that people will want.
| KungKras said: The reason as to why people think that MS and SONY doesn't have any first party is because their games really just look like ANY OTHER 3RD PARTY GAME. They have nothing that give them an identity like Sega or Capcom or Nintendo. |
This post is made of so much fail

"In video game terms, RPGs are games that involve a form of separate battles taking place with a specialized battle system and the use of a system that increases your power through a form of points.
Sure, what you say is the definition, but the connotation of RPGs is what they are in video games." - dtewi

But they do put out products that people want, and you keep denying that this is related to the OP, when in fact it's the central idea of the OP!

:O i cant even believe the nonsense out of this thread...your literally just spitting on all the hard work these developers do
| Kantor said: Your entire OP is based on the premise that Microsoft and Sony are messing up the industry. Even what you call Nintendo's laziness is brought on by Sony and Microsoft. You compare the gaming industry to the music industry, while saying gaming is no good in its current form, so either: a) Sony, Microsoft and Nintendo need to step up the first party development, or b) There are many different brands of console, all of which can play every game, giving us a situation like the MP3 player. To be honest, I think the industry is fine as it is. Within the next couple of quarters, all three companies will be profiting, sales for all consoles are strong, and there is a diverse and quality range of games on every platform. The last thing we need is a company like Apple having complete domination over the industry. |
I don't know who's messing up the industry. I just know it's messed up. I think the fact that there is only one video game company making consoles now is a big reason it sucks now. Needless to say I'm not happy with the way things are.
"They've gone after 3rd parties for the most part and occasionally will put out a game of their own."
isnt SONY in the lead for most 1st party games this GEN??????
