Did i just read that Nintendo, Sony? and Microsoft? are the best 3 gaming companies ever?

Best three gaming companies of all time are Sega, Nintendo & Capcom.

Microsoft & Sony don't even make my top 10.

Go check how many games & franchises have been either developed or published by the TRUE top 3 gaming companies of all time.

Sony and Microsofts games development numbers pale on comparison to those three (Sega, Ninty, Capcom)

Plus.......... we have Nintendo all star games, Capcom fighting all star games and Sega Racing all star games ect.

Microsoft and Sony could not even put up a roster of 10 own brand characters that would be recognisable enough for either company to make an all star game.

Sony and Microsoft dont need to rehash videogame characters you say huh?

Don't you mean they are not capable of rehashing videogames characters in to an all star game....... Multi million selling Mr Nathan Drake and Mr Halo himself are not enough to convince me that these two companies have many quality characters.......... Who would the supporting cast consist of? "Sackboy & Banjo"? (First party characters only, so dont bother mentioning Snake or Marcus Fenix ect)

You give "corporations" far more credit than they deserve.

Sony made their name in gaming through 3rd party support............ is that somthing that i should respect? i think not.

Sonys biggest selling game this gen is 3rd party (MGS 4) and Microsofts is 2nd party (unless they buy bungie or steal their best employees)

I would like to congratulate all the great 2ND & 3RD PARTY companies that have made Sony and Microsoft the success stories they are today.

Yeah, I'm sure that nobody bought an Xbox 360 for Halo 3. Seriously, what is this a "Microsoft and Sony can't be as good as Nintendo because they make a majority of their money elsewhere" thread? Do I need to even comment on the lack of logic here?

No. I want them to be video game companies. I want their business to rize and fall based on how good their games are. 

Sony is an electronics company while MS is a computer company, Sony designed the PS3 to be a trojan horse for Blu-ray, they've also gone the route of convergence and trying to make more than a video games console, MS designed the Xbox to counter what it saw as a sony attack on its core business with Windows, neither company really is concerned about gaming in general, the gaming market is just a way for them to achieve their other goals. Its the main reason why they are unable to disrupt the market as Nintendo did, because their aim isn't gaming.

Yes, both Sony and Microsoft have made system sellers but it's rare that they do that. They instead rely on things like price cuts.

No, the point of this thread is not about how Nintendo is better than Sony or Microsoft. It's about how the current situation with the game industry sucks.

Its not about where they are making their money, its about why they are in the market

These are two companies more concerned with the hardware and technology, and with eyes on other markets

Nintendo is focused on gaming

I do think Microsoft and Sony will not release consoles next generation if they can't turn a profit this generation in at least one year.

Nintendo makes videogaming a profitable business and doesn't have the cash from other sectors to boost them so they can go all out and make a crazy console with some new 500 dollar drive and a 9GHz processor.

Anyway, there is the possibility that Nintendo will never fall from their throne again. They have fallen and risen three times in the last 30 years: in the 80's, then they fell back to Sega for a few years; but rose again in the 90's, fell to Sony for almost a decade; but have since risen far higher than any gaming company ever has.

Its funny how at the beginning of this gen everyone thought Nintendo would be in last place, and probably leave the market, Ironically, Gamespot predicted Wii (at the time called the revolution) to come in first place, but they made it their April fool's joke. Even before that, they were thinking that the PSP would steal Nintendo's handheld market away.
