Forums - Sony - im confused doesnt the ps3 already have facebook?

ive never tried this but, cant you just go on the web browers on the ps3 and just go on facebook? same with twitter (i have no idea how netflix works but u can go on that website too)

so if this is true, y did microsoft make such a big deal about getting them if the ps3 already could.

are they formatted/programmed differently to fit the xbox 360 (liek is it mapped differently on the controller?)

its part of the interface on the 360, thats the difference.

the PS3 has everything dude!

All hail the KING, Andrespetmonkey

You can access it via the browser, but it's not integrated into the XMB as it is into the NXE.

Sony could always release a press statement saying the PS3 has always had access to Facebook, Twitter and Last.fm, but really, why even bother? Nearly noone is going to buy a Xbox 360 because of those specific features.

What leo said. Most people i knw that brought a PS3 didnt even know it had a web browser until they stumbled across it

Nobody's perfect. I aint nobody!!!

Killzone 2. its not a fps. it a FIRST PERSON WAR SIMULATOR!!!! ..The true PLAYSTATION 3 launch date and market dominations is SEP 1st

I believe they're also implementing special functions between the sites for a unique experience on the 360, but yes you should be able to use the web browser on the PS3 to use them normally.

The PS3 can do most things because of the web browser but it's just not fully integrated and part of it the way things like Netflix, Facebook, last.fm, and Twitter are.  I *believe* you can set it to automatically update things like Facebook with what you're playing or watching which I guess is cool for some people.

Also, I don't know if other people have had the same luck I have, but I usually have problems with the PS3 browser crashing or just running out of memory so I don't use it.

I can't really use the PS3 browser properly... but I haven't really put much effort into doing so. I don't really care for it anyway

I know what you  mean, it used to happen to me but they updated it and tweaked it around, now its perfectly fine (ofcourse I have a new slim, maybe the extra HDD space has something to do with it..)
