| madskillz said: @ L0ser - the review embargo was lifted this morning. I haven't played the demo yet, but will go back and compare the two (I do have it, but haven't played it.) I got one of the last early review builds. I have noticed a wii bit of pop-in, but I was also looking for glitches to sway my thinking. The very minor ones I found weren't worth mentioning. An awesome driving game - and a lot of cars. I even played online against a guy in a sick Corvette. I was in a Hyundai Genesis Coupe and got my doors blown OFF. I am not sure if the guy was a tester or not - but ... I will say this before I pen my impressions and later on my review - the vehicle AI is hilarious. I'm on easy so I can fly through it and get it done - but this one race, I was in third and the 2 AI cars ahead of me misjudged a sharp curve, drove off the track and overcorrected ... Another thing? That rewind button is hella funny and sweet. A definite nice addition. I look forward to playing more of it. |
On easy those AI drivers are horrid @least with the demo. Thanks for the update and I am looking forward to your review/thoughts.
I have played the demo a lot and I think its very good. Some people were a little unsatisfied with the graphics and the damage. So thats why I was wondering about the copy you have. Does sick Corvette mean pimped out with its own paint job? Thats what I am looking forward to the most, painting my own ride and buying/selling in game. I may not be very good at it but there are a lot of people who are! THanks again.

Haha, spelling "wee" as "wii".
Crusty VGchartz old timer who sporadically returns & posts. Let's debate nebulous shit and expand our perpectives. Or whatever.

Well, the sick Corvette is a yellow one with racing vinyls. I bought two Subaru vinyls and was oogling over a Halo 3 themed Beamer wtih a Turn 10 license plate.
The paint schemes/vinyls are pretty thorough. You can do the standard - metallic, factory and some special colors. There are also auctions too - though not a lot right now. You get achievements for buying your first item, competing and finishing your first race and a few others.
The graphics look awesome - though I still think the graphics on Prologue look better. I'll just fire up the PS3 and switch between the games and see.
There's also a freeplay mode - you pick whatever car you want, the track and just cruise it as fast - or as slow as you want to. You can even enter a camera mode - so you can upload pics online. I, however, choose an Italian villa with a Range Rover and played around with the camera. I was also miffed by the lighting sometimes. I was further miffed by the fact that you can adjust the audio - no custom tracks - big, big no-no - and the lack of visual mods on the game. Maybe I missed it, but I didn't see them.
It will sell - and could win over some diehard GT5 fans who are tired of sitting in neutral.
