LOL, so much about Wii being more wanted than PS3. Wii cant compete with 299$ PlayStation console.

So many folks jumping the gun and screaming victory. I can't wait for the end of the year to see who comes out on top. This thread must be bookmarked for crow to be served come January.
I wish them both to be strong, so it is a good thing for me.
I guess the games to come on Wii will hold this numbers till Holidays.
Very pleasantly surprised. I don't expect that to last for long...until FFXIII comes out in which the ps3 will definitely go back up....but I'm still surprised and happy.
1st: The ps3 is having better legs than I expected.
2nd: The Wii didn't jump nearly as much as I expected. I really expected it to go back up to its old numbers.
And for those who say the Wii has had a 3x increase it has...but only over the last week or so because the sales were down in anticipation of the price cut. It's actual increase is only about 2x what it has been consistently selling over the last month or two.

My thoughts?
It is very amusing. I would love to see ps3 outselling wii from now on.
PS3 is the system many people want/ wanted. The price point was out of hand. I bought my 60 gig at the original price point and haven't regreted it at all. Although I am pleased to see that most other people will also be enjoying the power of the cell. Lets be honest, the ps3 now has some heavy hitters that show the quality of the system. Of course, the games that will be out in a couple of years will sadden many of the top quality games of today.
I don't think the CELL processor is anything special. There's nothing I've really seen on the PS3 that I've said "wow ... this is in no way possible on the XBox 360", and the 360 chipset is a year older.
The 360-PS3 gap in terms of what you actually get on screen is probably even smaller than the SNES-Genesis gap back in the day. It's got to be one of the smallest hardware gaps between two competing consoles in game history for sure.
The PS3 at $299.99 is a good value because of the included Blu-Ray playback and that's paying some dividends for Sony now I think.
