I don't think the CELL processor is anything special. There's nothing I've really seen on the PS3 that I've said "wow ... this is in no way possible on the XBox 360", and the 360 chipset is a year older.
The 360-PS3 gap in terms of what you actually get on screen is probably even smaller than the SNES-Genesis gap back in the day. It's got to be one of the smallest hardware gaps between two competing consoles in game history for sure.
The PS3 at $299.99 is a good value because of the included Blu-Ray playback and that's paying some dividends for Sony now I think.
