So, PS3 get a pricecut with new Slim model and in 4 days sell 150k, then drop to 60k.
While Wii got a pricecut and in 4 days sold 32k. Then next week, more people will get aware about Wii pricecut and Wii sales will increase to 40-45k, because Wii is so cool in Japan.

Not because, Wii sales were droping year to year or maybe Wii already saturated Japan market and only some big/huge games can move some new units,
because like Wii Sport Resort,
so and Wii Fit Plus had no big effect on Wii sales, though both games sold a lot.

Can I bang my head against a wall please?!!

The massive PS3 spike was DUE TO THE PS3 SLIM MODEL, not purely from a PRICE CUT. If PS3 had just had the price reduced it would have done more like 65k - 55k - 50k - 45k - 35k or whatever. OVER HALF of the intital spike was from people buying the new model.

Price cuts tend to have a flatter and more sustained effect, new model launches have a large peak and dropoff.

Man why don't you guys actually read the analyses that we spend so long putting together before spouting this rubbish over and over again.

The initial week after PS3 slim release and initial week following Wii price cut are two totally different things. Wii should be higher in ALL regions next week or flat at the very least. By exactly the same theory, PSP sales should be up slightly next week as well in Japan but down in America / Others.

because they dont rationalize, thats all. You give them perfect explanations, and they will continue to ask why, and question you. Just like Neogaf, you can explain all you want, but sadly they will never get it.. Good thing I got it =D

"The massive PS3 spike was DUE TO THE PS3 SLIM MODEL, not purely from a PRICE CUT."

That's something people seem to forget when comparing the recent PSP/Wii sales with those of the PS3 slim. If Wii had a redesign I'm sure first week sales would've been much higher.

Well hwat you people have to take into account aswell is that the PS3's sales droped to like what 4K a week or something. Thats a lot of pent up demand. Plus the people rebuying one fot the slim. Pluss the huge price drop.

Also you got to understand aswell that the price for the Wii has never really been an issue.

i agree with most of things you said.

about "OVER HALF of the intital spike was from people buying the new model", do you mean existing PS3 owners rebuy/trade in?

if so, do you have solid evidence to support this statement?

may i ask what % of DSi was purchased by existing DSL owners during the launch week?  you must have some data in your hand.  just curious :)

@ZorroX

but i still doubt the Wii sales will rise next week but i dont really know thenature of price drops in Japan so. I think it all depends on how well it has been advertised.

Low advertisments then a greater week 2.
HUge adverts lower week 2

All we ned now is star scream to tell us how the advertising was in Japan

Thats is some serious bitch slapping you did ioi lmao You even gave me a good slap because i also doubted that the sales would rise again.

I think ti is safe to say that the PS3 and Wii will be selling well in japan. Even though i give thenod to the PS3. because of FF13

I find it funny that some Nintendo fans are bragging about competing with the PS3, or hoping that the PS3 has lower numbers so that maybe the Wii tied the PS3 after a pricecut even though the PS3 had its own weeks ago and the Wii just had its.

How the mighty have fallen.

I approve 999% (PS3 Slim sales style) both the comment and the motivator!

I can agree with the comment, but that motivator is just awful. The correct word they should have used is "you're" not "your." It's especially strange seeing as they got the "who's" correct (as opposed to "whose"). I kinda wonder if they had no idea and just threw in the apostrophe for good measure, unsure if it belonged or not... Sorry. Pet peeve.

@psrock: I agree. I think that'd be both absurd and unfair.

Anyhow, OP, great sales all round, it would seem... well, to be expected, not including the 360.

but ioi, what about when you have both a new model and a price?
