Is the wii cut limited to a couple of days or what? Why would it go up in sales, usually a week after the cut it drops back down.. (speaking on consoles in general) |
The Wii has magical powers and will increase week 2, apparently. I mean, how else will it be able to beat PS3? We just can't let that happen! *devastated*

Your examples are only software, and not even necessarily system selling software, but no new hardware, so you haven't yet supported your argument, this was a total hardware revision along with new software, the price cut wasn't the big factor |
Pfft, alternate universe. Stop playing dumb. Did you even read what I have to say, or are you just regurgitating the same talking points over and over? I showed you how the biggest game ever for the PS3 was released back in June of 2008, without a price drop for the PS3, and yet the PS3 only sold half that month of what it had sold in September 2009. A price cut obviously does make a big difference, and if you're still trying to deny that, you're still fighting a losing argument. What, do you really think Tales of Vesperia and Gundam and a suddenly slimmer PS3 made it sell hundreds of thousands of units in September? How badly in denial are you?
Just give up, I won't care. But please don't make me have to put myself through arguing with you.
| TheSource said: Um, in the preview I had Wii below PS3 and PSP which is what happened, despite the price drops. I had expected the PSP to outsell PS3 by a small amount and thats what ASCI/Dengeki has reported. Sony introduced a new PS3 model and a price cut at once. For PSP and Wii there was only a price cut for half a week going against the new PS3 and the new price put for PS3 and already both PSP/Wii are close to outselling Wii again. Given that PS3 has dropped every week since the price cut and Wii and PSP should be up again its completely reasonably to expect PS3 to drop behind Wii and PSP again. Whether it happens next week or in two or three weeks is debatable, but PS3 has been declining each week and that decline is going to continue for a while |
Like leo stated, you expect Wii sales to be higher next week? WHY would that happen? Like the PS3s decrease every week I expect Wii to fall back down more and more. Who cares if it was only half a week for week 1 sales, day 1 was probably the day it sold the most. [I think] PS3>Wii in japan for at least 3-4 more weeks.

Or maybe he takes the LAW OF DEMAND into this.. were demand continues to be higher than it previously was before the price cut, it certainly would mean that sales shouldnt drop, heck my even go up as more people are aware of the lower price..

The PSP & Wii price cuts went into effect October 1, 2009. This tracking week ending October 4, 2009.
That means from September 28 to September 30 no one in their right mind bought a Wii or PSP, while PS3 sales remained solid. Next week, PSP and Wii sales should both increase again by being a lower price from October 5 to October 11.
The fact that PSP/Wii are close or higher than PS3 already means that each system could be above PS3 next week even with a substantial drop.
A three fold increase over four days bodes well for PSP/Wii, as its a six fold increase over four days. If both systems fall to a a 3.5 fold increase over the initial price drop level Wii and PSP will be up again next week despite a massive fall in weekly sales, and PS3 continue to decline.

The Wii is weird, it could go higher next week but it could also go down. But, the Source expected the Wii to be back on top weeks ago, What do you have to say about that?

That's not fair, no one should attack any member of this site no matter who they are, but everyone can be critized because they state their opinion and debate other users. We al have been wrong, and we bring it up all the times.

So, PS3 get a pricecut with new Slim model and in 4 days sell 150k, then drop to 60k.
While Wii got a pricecut and in 4 days sold 32k. Then next week, more people will get aware about Wii pricecut and Wii sales will increase to 40-45k, because Wii is so cool in Japan.
Not because, Wii sales were droping year to year or maybe Wii already saturated Japan market and only some big/huge games can move some new units,
since Wii Fit Plus,
just like Wii Sport Resort had no big effect on Wii sales, though both games sold a lot.
Oh god.. the moment a weakness shows for wii or DS (no matter how minuet) people jump on it like ravaging zombies on a corpse..
any how i think its worth noting the DSi, not even including the ds lite sales(where did they go?), still managed to out sell everything even in lite of a wii price drop, psp price drop, psp redesign.... its crazy
hello how are you.
It'll be interesting to see PSP/Wii sales next week. I think Wii sales may increase a little, don't know about PSP. PS3 will decrease but not much.
