Forums - Gaming - Why Do PS3 owners not buy exclusives

MGS 4 is one of the best games ever made. I am certain that if this was an xbox exclusives it would have sold way more.

I have seen and have friends that have bought a ps3 after playing MGS 4 and killzone 2. These were friends who had xbox's. These games would have been very big on the xbox. Killzone 2 is the most realistic shooter I have ever played and I am a COD fan. Ask xbox owners that have played this game, if this was on the xbox, would they have bought it?Killzone 2 would have sold more than double the units on the xbox.

Killzone 2 with the 360 controller would feel much better, but I like it the way it is on the PS3. Not that I play that much anymore anyway.

Some of the best exclusives have been released on the PS3. I myself am a ps3 owner and remember my fellow ps3 owners always complaining about the lack of exclusives for the ps3. Now, many brilliant exclusives have been released such as Killzone 2 and metal gear solid 4 but ps3 owners do not buy. If MGS 4 had been an exclusive on the xbox it would have sold 10 million. Look at HALO ODST.

If I was a developer, I would stop making exclusives for the ps3 and make exclusives for the xbox whose owners are a lot more loyal to exclusives.

Please can all my fellow ps3 owners tell me why this is?

Okay 360 has 8 exclusives that have sold over 2 million and PS3 has 6, soon to be a lot more with GT5, GoW3, UC2, and more. Not much difference for a 7.5 million install base difference.

And I highly disagree that MGS4 would have sold 10 million if exclusive to the 360. The only game that has made 10 million is Halo 3 and that is the most hyped game this gen, if not in history.

Umm... Considering the PS3 installbase, MGS4 have performed exceptionally well. After all, it's only 1,5M behind the best selling MGS.

Also, comparing sales of a game which is largely unknown to the public, to the only big IP 360 has, isn't necessarily sensible.

Ei Kiinasti.

Eikä Japanisti.

Vaan pannaan jalalla koreasti.

Nintendo games sell only on Nintendo system.

Good games do not=sales look at Mass Effect and Lost Oddessy two good 360 exclusives that didn't sell gangbusters.

  • Metal Gear Solid 4 - Niche game.  The only reason it got as much press as it did is because it's a large niche (but still a niche) and it got hyped to Hell.  And no, it would have sold any more on the 360, it probably would have sold less since its niche is largely Playstation loyal.
  • Killzone 2 - Other than graphics, it wasn't anything special.  Other similar games available on the PS3 had it beat in every other catagory.
  • inFamous - Had competition from a game almost exactly like it.
  • Little Big Planet - Sold a lot more than I thought it would and I suspect it didn't sell more because it's the wrong audience for the PS3.

What other exlusives are you talking about?

ummmm

ROFLLMAO.

sorry sorry i had to laugh at this comment. So plz sir enlighten me as too how 4 million could possibly be niche. Every single PS owner knows wat MGS is. Everyone in my god damn neighbourhood at least has heard of this series. Niche pffft you sir are a fool

so let me get this straight.. all games have to sell 10 million or so to be big sellers??? wow that means that 99% of the games released are niche. go figure =p

I would not say that PS3 owners doesn't buy exclusive. I would rather say that PS3 owners don't buy game at all. The XBOX 360 has 33 titles that has sold 2 millions or more while the PS3 has only 13 titles to have sold over 2 millions copy and the Wii has 23 titles.
Now the number titles that has sold 1 millions copies:
Xbox 360: 71 titles sold over 1 million copies
PS3: 36 titles sold over 1 million copies
Wii: 57 titles sold over 1 million copies
So my conclusion PS3 owners don't buy games, not just exclusives

It just is?  I would be willing to be a LARGE majority of the people who bought have never played any of the others and bought solely based on hype.  That's Sony trying to make it a non-nich game, though who knows how well that worked.
