I could understand all the anger towards this machine had Sony stop producing the regular version and forced everyone into downloading, but they are giving us a choice. Some people will enjoy and buy it. But as usual, just like before the Slim was release, most people who don't even intend to buy it just bitch, bitch and bitch.
This is what would have happened had the Slim not sold well, I remember it being called ugly, not as fancy and many other things.
The only gripe with this device is the price, but the market its going after ( ipod touch) don't really care as much.

Had Sony released the PSPGo (or something like it) as a separate machine instead of the original PSP, there would have been much less of an outcry.

Instead, it released a device that has very little market at a price higher (admitting to evoke the early adopter fee) than what a similar machine already does (and the similar machine has features not found on the PSPGo). Plus, it is not offering a discount for digital download of software -- meaning the distribution and production costs become profit (not even shared with the consumer).

In other words, if there were no other PSP, the Go would not be a problem. But because there is, it is a not well-received machine that will be viewed as a test drive and set DD back several years for reasons that have more to do with marketing than technology.

PSP GO is sony's most profitable device in PlayStation division right now, in software and hardware, Sony didnt make PSP GO to push PSP's sales, they made it to bring them more profit from PSP hardware and software

and @reasonable - They're hardly asking us to buy it??? Have you seen all the TV and Internet ads? It's great to see that Sony is still supporting the 3000. But they are not doing it out of the kindness of their hearts. They are doing it because they have to. They are doing it because PSP 3000 is FAAAAAAR SUPERIOR than the GO. Go adds small advantages but takes HUGE things out. I'm as big of a Sony fan as the next guy, but the PSPGO has to be the dumbest console they have ever released. When I heard it would launch at the SAME price as the original PSP I almost puked from disgust.

I'm sorry, but it is WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY TOO early to release a console that only supports digitial distribution. Here's two ways Sony has completely fucked us, the fans, with the PSPGO:

1 - I CAN'T, and will not EVER buy a PSPGO. Why? Because I have over a dozen UMD games and movies. Would you please tell me what I am supposed to do? Sony has pretty much told me to go shove it, cause PSPGO is only for people who are badass enough to not want their old games anymore.

2 - A Sony fan without an internet connection (or a decent one) CANNOT get games for the PSPGO. Soo....if you're from a second/third world country, or just happen to be an unlucky sucker who does not have internet, you HAVE to buy the old PSP. This is why Sony HAS TO SUPPORT the 3000. If they dropped support for it today, a good portion of people would not be able to own a PSP.

@The Anarchyz - It's great to see that Sony is not losing money and will break a profit from day 1. But that is not th reason fans like me are complaining. We are complaining because we feel completely disenfranchised.

I have nothing against the PSPGO, it's just that I think its time to move on. The PSP was launched in 2004-2005 ish. When they announced The PSPGO I was hoping for a totally new revamped product (one that featured a Second Joystick) and when they just showed a new design, I was a little downhearted.
