The Go! isn't an upgrade model in that fashion, sorry but Sony just weren't targeting what you were looking for.  The Go! is about:

1 - being smaller and lighter and more portable

2 - being fully digital in nature - no UMD at all

 

It's not about having a longer battery life, better screen, etc.  It's not an upgrade to existing PSP models, the 3000 remains the top existing PSP model.  The Go! is a new model.  Think about having a 5 door car then introducing a 3 door car that is otherwise the same.  That's what the Go! is about.

If you think it's a new model instead of an upgrade then it is a huge flop.
