@Spankey: It's pretty obvious why you can't download them unlimited times. Is five downloads total, or downloads for five different devices?

Oh I know, I was just responding to the Go elements. It was never meant to have anything other than digitial and drop UMD. While the PSP 3000 will be digital too I believe the Go is better set up for this by replacing the UMD with proper storage vs regualar PSP.
What I really don't get is if you want UMD plus digital you've got it, the current PSP. If you want digital only with proper on-board storage you've got it, the Go.
Try to be reasonable... its easier than you think...
Is it just me, or was it WAAAAAAAY to early for any console-maker to introduce a console that can only get games through the internet? I mean, not everybody has an internet connection. Out of people who do, many of them simply don't have the speed to download a game that is a gig.
When you make a console, aren't you supposed to make it as accessible as possible?

I think that's why the Go is actually pretty crafty. The regular PSP remains as a safety net, while the Go is really an experiment to test the waters. If it doesn' t tale off enough it doesn't matter, information learnt. Also, I think a handheld, with the acceptance of iPhone, etc. is the safer place to also try digital vs say a home console.
If you think about it Sony can observe:
a - continued UMD sales
b - digital sales to regular PSPs
c - digitial sales to Go

BECAUSE THE PSP 3000 is it direct competition!!!!!! and it does more (play entire current librery) and 3000's bateries last longer , and to those saying game will be cheaper, NO THEY ARE MORE EXPENSIVE, becuase sony has to protect reatailers and if PSN games are cheaper retailers wont sale the psp GO becuase they make their money on salling games not hardware |
If the SONY were worried about it being direct competition, they wouldn't stock it. It's clear they don't expect it to be the bulk of sales. I don't know how you can say the 3000 last longer. During gameplay the 3000 should be using more power since it has to spin a disk. I've looked at the games in the store and compared to prices at retail, they seem just fine. It's also cheaper for me because of my location.
Features Lost:
UMD Drive
Slightly shrunken screen
Features Gained:
Pause Game Feature
Screen Savers
16GB's internal
BlueTooth
-2 + 4 = +2
I don't see how you anyone can say it has less features.

AGREED WHOLEHEARTEDLY!

Exactly, and that's what people don't get, Sony is not risking a bit with this, the Go is selling at a profit, the PSP-3000 has the DD service also and they are still supporting UMDs... This is for water testing like you say...

They're not driving anything down your throat... infact they're hardly even asking you to buy it... that's why they're still supporting the 3000... They're giving you two options...

@Reasonable: It indeed is a test, but from a consumer point of view, it likely isn't very tempting for the games being as expensive as they are at retail. The link provided earlier implied that Go supports only 802.11b, instead of b/g as PSP, which is very interesting for Go having more emphasis on online.
