Forums - Sony - PSP-Go (30,000 First Week Sales) A Flop ?

As I already said before, the PSPgo will prolly sell to non gamer as well as a ipod/zune etc alternative. Compare it to those hardware and the price point is more than ok.

edit: remember, this isn't a new platform launch. this is just an alternative to the psp and a nice experiment for sony on digital distribution. this is not a dslite, this is not a dsi. the dslite was the psp2000 and the dsi is the 3000. this is just another venue for sony to make money. its designed to be pure profit.

You are all forgetting the money earned on games, periferals(they're all proprietary) and the like.

I expect psp to be hugely profitable for sony while the ps3 continues to rise.

I did get GTP on umd though and a new 3000 as well. I just want my favorite games in disc format.

spent 400$ on the go though in games :)

Kinda hard to use that "not a new platform launch" idea, when the PS3 Slim wasn't a new platform either.  The PSP Go is a completely re-design platform, and it cost quite a bit of mullah to get launched...considering the current state of Sony's finances, they need these things to move...PSP and PS2 have been covering for the lags in PS3 financial performance.

since when did they need it to move? The ps3 is in no way shape or form any less profitable for sony than the 360 is for microsoft. I think in total the 360 lost more money than the ps3, the media just bends this stuff. MS has been loosing 1.5b+/year for like 5 years now.

Maybe you should stop when you have to make up phoney data.

Anyone can guess. It takes no effort to throw out lots of predictions and have some of them be correct. You are not and wiser or better for having your guesses be right. Even a blind man can hit the bullseye.

You can look at it two ways, compair it to the DSi launch and its a pretty bad opening from Sony, I cant help but feel they'll be a little disappointed.

On the other hand the PSP hasnt really been that big in the Americas so in that view its a pretty ok start, Japan will be the biggest market for this thing, wait till then before everyone starts screaming its a market failure.

those are PSP Go only sales.
as you know PSP 3000 it's also selling and it's selling well for a slow month.

the reason all other consoles sales are increasing mainly because they all got price cuts, PSP go actually more expensive.

at the end of october things should start to pick up.

The issue is how much does Sony lose on every PSP GO, if any?  If it didn't cost anything to develop the redesign...otherwise, this is yet another detractor from profits, with little addition to revenue...this is a business, not a bragging contest.

i wasn't exactly right, but pretty close.

Well i expected, 0, so it's doing above my expectations, at least. LOL. Anyway i feel sorry for the people who bought it, you can get psp with 16 gig memory stick, for cheaper, than psp go.

Not a flop at all. If Sony make $100 off of each Go sold they just made $3 million in a week in Americas alone. Even if they make half of that off of the Go, they took in $1.5 mill. Not bad at all. I don't see much legs, but that isn't what this was intended for. It was mainly just to test the waters of DD and make Sony a quick buck.

links links links please..otherwise this is a fallacy

hello how are you.
