"In video game terms, RPGs are games that involve a form of separate battles taking place with a specialized battle system and the use of a system that increases your power through a form of points.

Sure, what you say is the definition, but the connotation of RPGs is what they are in video games." - dtewi

Sofar ToV and FFXIII are on my radar, I'll be cautious about other JRPGs aswell, but I'll decide on reviews, so no day one for me.

MY HYPE LIST: 1) Gran Turismo 5; 2) Civilization V; 3) Starcraft II; 4) The Last Guardian; 5) Metal Gear Solid: Rising

hell no, not every lol

but most:

FF13, WKC, SO4 (may be....if its improved), TOV

All hail the KING, Andrespetmonkey

I'll buy a lot of them:
FF13, RoF, WKC (cause WKC2 looks EPIC), maybe even Atelier Rorona and/or SO4, ToV for sure if it comes to the west.

And about the WRPG-JRPG debate:
There were NO great WRPGs released this gen, maybe even last gen, the last great games were released on the PC (and those were great), and the only good WRPG this gen is Mass Effect, Fallout 3 and Oblivion are crap RPGs, with no plot and no RP (the whole point of WRPGs!).
The Situation isn't that good on the JRPG front as well, there weren't so many great JRPGs last gen (FFX, DDS1-2, Xenosaga 1-3, Persona 4), and you really can't compare them to the JRPGs of the PS1 era.
And suprisingly (or not so much) it seems like there are not even that many great JRPGs this gen.

Bet with Dr.A.Peter.Nintendo that Super Mario Galaxy 2 won't sell 15 million copies up to six months after it's release, the winner will get Avatar control for a week and signature control for a month.

wrpgs get too much love especially in northamerica. and sales = quality? wii sports,or  all those games about marines torturing or killing people say hi.

Um...if you want to see too much love wait until FFXIII comes out. The highest selling WRPG is Mass Effect with 2 million in s ales. WRPG's are western RPG's which are made for Western audiences. Western games balance fantasy and realism and sci-fi unlike Japan who makes their game sets purely fantastical. Variety and the level of quality is what is catching westerners attention. I don't really care if the Japanese support it or not.

both genres (wrpgs aand jrpgs) need to improve. a lot.

WRPG's have improved in a huge way since last gen. Last gen no one would pay any mind to them. Western devs have put WRPG's in a position where they could be AAA heavy hitters. Why? Look at a game like Mass Effect and Dragon Age: Origins or Fallout 3. The only thing to say is of epic proportions.

What he said. The Perfect Balance. Besides I think it should be a known fact that WRPG Devs are probably more comfortable working with the 360 over the PS3

Exactly my point. Thank you. The Japanese are safer on the 360, but because of Japan they give all the true quality to the PS3. Luckily for me the only JRPG I've played this gen was Lost Odyssey. I'll just buy them all on the PS3 out of fear of getting screwed. I know I could still buy the 360 versions (which of course are cheaper in price now), but I have pride issues and don't like to buy the cheaper version.

Mass Effect 2 seven minute demo (Epic)

Dragon Age Origins

Alpha Protocol (The game with over 120 hours of dialogue and possibilities! Just Epic)

First shooter RPG and OMG so grand!

The Secret World MMO RPG for the 360/PC

Teaser Trailer #2

Wanna know what makes these games twice as epic? The possibilities to play the game again and again in different ways with seperate scenarios from the last playthrough! Huge games with massive amounts of content and movies. I didn't even have to bring Oblivion into this. WRPG's are Underrated in VG Chartz for sure. This is just a taste of quality and variety in the same sentence.
