Yes. This type of game is not presented on Wii and it will definitely cause many people to buy.

2D mario greatness plus 4 player coop is simply amazing. I just purchased 2 additional controller sets so I could have four total. Just for this game.

Yeah but wouldn't the majority of those wanting a Mario game have jumped onto the Wii when Mario Galaxy released? That is why I am unsure that nsmb will have a significant impact on the sales of the Wii. But I am in curious if it will

If they market this right then yes it will. I think a red bundle would be killer.

No. Mario Galaxy does not equal NSMB in any way beyond the cast.

2D mario and 3D mario are completely different. Especially when the commercials hit showing the 4 player coop.

But Mario is Mario, whether 2D or 3D

I disagree.

A 2D Mario is a much more accessible game to the mass consumer.

^this.

Mario Galaxy sold 8 million, NSMB 20 million+.

Mario Galaxy caters more to the core side of gaming along with super smash bros. and Zelda. While Mario KArt Wii and NSMB are bridge titles that both the core enjoy and the expanded audeince can get into easily.

We still don't know if NSMB will be as big on Wii as it was on DS, but if Mario Kart is any indication, it could very well be.

Seriously?

2D marios:

SMB - NES (bundled most of its life) = 40.2m
SMW = SNES (bundled most of its life) = 20.1m
SMB3 = NES (not bundled) = 17.3m

NSMB DS (rarely bundled) = 19.5m (still selling ~50k a week)

3D marios:

Mario 64. Total sales from N64 and DS = 19.7 (11.9 was N64 only).
Sunshine = 6.3m
Galaxy = 8.2m (may not outsell 64).

2D mario is vastly more popular than 3D mario. It will bring people in big time.

Mario Galaxy is a main series game.

A spin off won't outsell it. I'm sorry.
