Forums - Sales - Wii Fit Plus - Hit or Miss?

Hit.

In that it is essentially a replacement for Wii Fit. Under the assumption it's being bundled with the Balance Board, it's a first day purchase for a large percentage of new Wii buyers.

If it was only sold separately, it's a different story as most new Wii owners would be fine with just the copy of Wii Fit that came with the Balance Board that they bought along with their console.

I'm actually kind of curious as to how many owners of Wii Fit go out and buy Wii Fit Plus. $20 discount price or not, if an owner is no longer actively exercising with Wii Fit (and the Balance Board is in the closet), I have a hard time seeing those people rushing out to buy the update.

What I don't see happening is an explosion of console sales due to Wii Fit Plus. The $50 console price drop goes further in opening the market to the sub $200 consumer demographic.

For various reasons, there is no way this is going to be the beast that Nintendo want it to be.

I think it is going to sell quite well, but more than 1 million?  I don't think so.

To be honest, I think it is going to struggle to reach 500,000 by the end of the year, and the 'legs' aren't going to be that good either.

very bold prediction... you are talking about Worldwide or NA or Japan?

Going by this, I would assume Japan.

I was blind... didn't even see it in the OP.. it's sign that I should go to bed

MikeB predicts that the PS3 will sell about 140 million units by the end of 2016 and triple the amount of 360s in the long run.

Relax, you're not blind. It's a thread from when Wii Fit was released, the thread the OP was referring to. Reading through that thread is quite enjoyable.

I would say Hit.

Hit.

It's going to replace current Wii Fit sales which are still bubbling along in the quiet time of the year at about 100k/week and if my anecdotal experience is any indication I say there will be a reasonable percentage of Wii Fit owners who will upgrade.

Hit. Bought mine (standalone) today.

for a nintendo game selling at $20 and has "Wii" in the title, it will be a hit.

It (PS3's market share) might hit 30%, but definently not more. ~ Neo

The stand alone game is a split market.

Not everyone who owns Wii Fit/Balance Board will go out and buy it, even at $20.

I do (own Wii Fit), and I won't (buy Wii Fit Plus).

Why not? Like many others, I've long since stopped using it.

But this is somewhat irrelevant because the majority of buyers will be new Wii owners looking for their initial soft purchases and for many, Wii Fit/Plus will be at the top of the list.

I don't know how anything with "wii" in the title can be a miss.
