It only has some 20+ reviews in via the MetaCritic system and yet may get the googley 40 score by an obscure never before heard of Review site.

Obviously it is entirely likely that it will achieve this accolade (not actually a bad accolade) what it does not want is the critically well received but flopped in the box office.

I actually think Sony have started to get a lot of things right recently so although you could say other titles may of fallen into that category I think it highly unlikely this will happen with Uncharted 2.

every very highly reviewed game is called overrated by a certain crowd.

be it GTA4, MGS4, or Zelda:OOT

What about Halo 3, it has to be the most picked on game this generation.

Halo 3, MGS2 (which is near the top on metacritic) & so many more

they are all claimed to be overrated by some group

Personally, the only one overrated out of em is GTA4 imo

I think every game this generation can be overrated truth be told, like I said before reviewers give out 10s to fucken easily.

If Uncharted 2 provided the same fun factor it did with the first one then I wouldnt care if many considerred it overrated or not.

I think it won't actually. My main reason is the first was great but had some flaws, was reviewed and judged as such, and the developer seems to have gone and put in a lot of effort to make it even better - I think also it would need to sell more than at will to be judged that way.

The tone of most reviews seems to take that view - that the success is deserved as it builds on a solid foundation. So rather than seeming like it good success easy, I feel most see Uncharted as an ip that worked hard to get that status.

I'm discounting the 'over hyped' junkies and talking about general market perception.

The people int his thread who think GTAIV is over-rated, but and Halo is not, need to go back and play those two games once more. Cause I would flip that one around completely. If we are to say Halo deserved its score, then GTAIV deserved to be rated as high as it is.

None of us can really know if Uncharted 2 is over-rated untill we play it. Adam Sessler was quoted as saying it is the best single player campaing hes ever played, so it's understandable that some reviewers are giving it perfect scores. We will have to wait and play it ourselves before we decide. There will definitly be people who say it is over-rated.

However, those will be the same people who think the first Uncharted was over-rated, Heavenly Sword was too short, Warhawk needed a single-player campaign, Little Big Planet was just a level creator, Killzone 2 compromised game play for graphics, Resistance needed split-screen, and MGS4 was just an interactive movie.

I find all third person shooters to be overrated. That's why I have given up on all third person shooters. Unless another Earth Defense game comes out

This^ I mean if people hadn't played the previous GTA games then IV must have been great, but for someone who loved the series since the Playstation games...then it was a major let down.

Everytime there'd been a great amount of improvements etc and it became better and better but this simply ended with GTA IV.

While with Uncharted 2 I believe it to be delivering what's expected of it, GTA IV didn't do this. With Uncharted 2 there's arrays of improvement and the story hopefully will be great as well considering the amount of money they put in to the cinematic side of the game.

Only time will truly tell if Uncharted 2 will live up to expectations (Well Beta wise it certainly has!) and not be rated too highly as GTA did, which IMO possibly deserved 90ish but no way more than 95.
