Forums - Gaming - Hypothetically Speaking - What if Sega and Apple joined the console race?

It's been a myth for both for quite sometime, lets finally end it here on the chartz though...

So... if Sega and Apple were to enter the console race this gen OR next gen, how would it go down? please explain your opinion on the subject in detail for one or both.

Im far to lazy to right now so i skip. have a ball!

I think Apple would be more or less a success, but I'm hoping against hope that they stay out of home consoles.

Sega would die once and for all, IMO.

Apple would be money-hat Sega to fuse with them, becoming Apga!

Apple will have a few good franchises

But TBH....I don't see them as a major competitor unless they get 3rd party's on their side as well as make new first party games.

SEGA has Sonic which sells a lot......and.....not much else really

All hail the KING, Andrespetmonkey

Sega - they would fail, not enough moneys

Apple - you're slightly late to the party. They already announced that they were doing so, did so and succeded. It's called the Iphone. Or were you (in typicaly VGChartz fashion) using the word consoles to mean home consoles, because portables don't count for some reason?

What?

Sonic is Sega's bread and butter, but they've got plenty of other top sellers.  Virtua Fighter, Condemned, Virtua Tennis, Crazy Taxi, Ready 2 Rumble, and a bunch more...

Could I trouble you for some maple syrup to go with the plate of roffles you just served up?

"Ok, girl's trapped in the elevator, and the power's off.  I swear, if a zombie comes around the next corner..."

oh sure they do

but I meant like the MEGA SYSTEMS SELLERS!

ye know, Gran Turismo, Halo, GTA, Mario level system sellers.

Do their laptops count as a console?

Hey, hey...lets not forget Phantasy Star here... its a Sega owned IP...

At anyrate the iPhone has no 3rd party support VS the likes of the PSP and DS, so if we were to count it.... then... >_>

Well Apples would be more expensive and they'd make it touch screen

Sega's would have no 3rd party support and die after like 4 million sales and 2 mediocre sonic games
