its not even fair to release a 250$ PSPgo with a 299$ PS3.

but its fair to release a $169.99 DSI with a $199 wii..

the value in the PSP is greater than its selling for, same goes for the PSP GO

I need to quote myself

good one, leo!

but i am also surprised by Sony's $100 price cut to make PS3 only $50 more than PSPgo.

maybe Sony's priority now is selling more PS3 so more developers will be willing to make games for it.

PSP's software lineup is fantastic for the next 12 months, and that's not including minis.

It (PS3's market share) might hit 30%, but definently not more. ~ Neo

@Darth

Me too! Obviously I don't know what Sony are going to do with regards to pricing but I'm just pointing out that even though the launch price is very high it's not necessarily dead before it even comes to market. I hope it succeeds as I'd like to see a real shift towards digital distribution for games (in my opinion it's the only way developers are going to survive with the increasing dev costs in each generation).

As long as Sony can afford to lower the price at some point next year then it won't be a problem. The PS3 had one of the fastest selling launches in history despite being significantly more expensive than any other console at launch. The problem was that Sony were unable to reduce the price in any significant way for years due to high production costs. I doubt this will be the case with the Go (although obviously I can't be sure) and so when the early adapter phase is over Sony can reduce the cost.

This is far different than the ps3 situation....you dont go from expensive to cheap and then back to expensive with the same product.....its like the slim lauching at $600.

N64 is the ONLY console of the fifth generation!!!

It's more like selling a PS3 slim without blu-ray drive for $600.

Anyone can guess. It takes no effort to throw out lots of predictions and have some of them be correct. You are not and wiser or better for having your guesses be right. Even a blind man can hit the bullseye.

it is a bit of a WTF! moment for sony... they like to take 1 step forward then 2 steps back

There's a lot of hate for the PSP GO.

Am I the only one excited about minis?

I wanted a PSP but the 3000 is too big and I don't like the idea of having to carry around UMDs.

Also, the price isn't really that bad. It's $50 more then a DSi but it's so much better for me. It'll have games suited to my tastes, and it'll eventually have that comic book reader.

There's always the chance that if I actually see it first hand I could find things wrong with it, but since I haven't I can't make those kinds of conclusions.

This review is good for fact that it mentions it gets dirty easily makes it easier to choose black over white.

Believe me, I don't see the benefit of buying a Go when you can pick up a 3000 for so much less but I think enough people will to warrant Sony pricing it as they have for now. Sony are not new to this scene, they must have conducted market research and have based business models on the Go's price point. Also the Go is much more of a redesign than the Slim and I bet if the Slim had launched at $600 there would still have been people bought it in the first week! All I'm saying is that if price does prove to be a major limiting factor there is a good chance Sony can rectify the problem with a price cut.

i saw the comfort factor being an issue the minute i laid eyes on it. It has a similar design to a cheapo all-in-one device that my bro bought from geek.com, it ran NES emulators and sucked ass. You literally can't game on it for more than 15mins because of the awkward position of your hands so it comes as no surprise here.

@ Carl ..PSP Go Fuck up itself indeed

PSP 3000 for me i just hope they don't discontinue it this year lol
