Forums - Sales - Gran Turismo 5 to sell over 15 Million LTD or only over 10?

Well Gran Turimso 4 sold about 9 million copies lifetime. So I expect Gran Turismo 5 to sell about 14 million copies worldwide lifetime.

Add another million onto GT4, which is actually still selling.

Lighting looks awsome. They did a great job and it looks almost real. I have to say more so than any other racing game - even FM3. the car in the first video while looks great still looks fake. I can tell right away it is not real.

Possibly the most random reasoning ever?

LOL, agreed.

If Sony follows their 10 years plan over 10 million surely...but if they don't IMO GT5 will not sell more than 10m.

CURRENTLY PLAYING: Xenoblade (Wii), Super mario 3D land (3DS), Guild Wars (PC)

10 to 13 million.

Okay so this is my first post here, I've made an account just to post on this thread since you're all pretty much wrong...

Let's rewind to 2007... Halo 3 was released on the 360... now, 2 years ago, the 360 didn't have a userbase of 24m like the PS3 has of now... Halo 3 has sold over 10m so far, correct ?

Now... the Gran Turismo franchise is bigger than the Halo, and I mean MUCH bigger, here are the sales from all of the Gran Turismo games;

Gran Turismo 1 - 10.85m

Gran Turismo 2 - 9.37m

Gran Turismo 3 - 14.89m

Gran Turismo 4 - 10.36m

Gran Turismo 5: Prologue - 3.14m

(Can't find Gran Turismo Concept or 4: Prologue sales, any help would be nice on that, and don't forget Gran Turismo PSP is coming out to add onto those sales before Gran Turismo 5...)

Total sales: 48.61m

Now lets take a look at the Halo game sales...

Halo 1 - 6.43m

Halo 2 - 8.43m

Halo 3 - 10.17m

Halo 3: ODST - Somewhere over 2m after 24hours, not too sure since the website isn't updated on these sales, I'll say 3m to make it fair.

Halo Wars - 1.48m

Total sales:  29.51m

So as you can see, right there, I've listed 5 games from both franchises (Exept the two for Gran Turismo I can't find sales for, and the PSP game is out before 5 anyways...)

Now, I've noticed a trend with the Gran Turismo games, the first game on the generations console sells really high, and then drops slightly, it went from 10.85m to 9.37m on the PS1, then the PS2 came out with Gran Turismo 3 selling an amazing 14.89m, and dropping down to 10.36m, a big drop, but a big seller nonetheless... 5: Prologue hasn't sold as good as the others, but I know of alot of people who are waiting for the real game to come out, since it's pretty much just a demo of it.

In my opinion, I think we're going to see a high sales, I mean, Gran Turismo is a well known franchise with more sales worldwide, and many of those people who bought the earlier Gran Turismo games will surely come back for Gran Turismo 5, correct ?

If I had to have a guess, I'd honestly say we'll see sales high above 10m, however I wouldn't say anything over 15m, that would be a bonus, but I'd definitely put a limit on 15m lifetime.

If you're wondering why I haven't compared it to Forza, is because well... Gran Turismo 4 alone has sold over double that of Forza 1+2 combined, so it's pretty pointless comparing the sales of Gran Turismo 5 to Forza 3, since I guess we can all see a clear winner. I chose a game like Halo 3, since they've had the same amount of games released with correct sales info, and they're pretty much their home consoles main seller... Halo is to XBOX as Gran Turismo is to Playstation.

So yeah, sorry for the long ass post, but I wanted to get my point across, I really do think Gran Turismo 5 will sell over 10m, 15m lifetime, anything higher will amaze me. And I'm even willing to have a bet with someone...

What a great first post.
