Forums - Nintendo - IGN editor: No worthwhile Wii games have released since 2007.

I think more people feel this way than some people here think. He won't get universally flamed, but he will get a lot of complaints. But a lot of people also agree with that sentiment. To me personally, the Wii may pass every console ever saleswise, but at this point it is not close to the equal of many of them, such as the PS2 and SNES.

I just don't understand articles like these, if you don't like Nintendo franchises fine, but to say the Gamecube had a better library (or that the Wii is the anti -Gamecube/N64) just doesn't make sense to me. The Gamecube's best first party games, Zelda, Metroid, Mario, Smash Bros., Mario Kart, Animal Crossing, etc. have all already seen Wii sequels. Now that the system also has Wii Sports/Fit/Play though somehow those games don't count. Obviously the guy just wants traffic on his site, so thanks for copying the article so I didn't have to help with that.

But the gamecube had some amazing games like Paper Mario 2, Skies of Arcadia Legends and Star Fox adventures which were some awesome games. The Wii doesn't seem to have those kinds of games lately.

Gamereviewers are always too concerned with what's new. Developers worry about this too.

Nintendo realizes that the average gamer owns 5-8 games for the Wiipretty much every console ever. They don't want the newest games. They want the best games.

What makes these editors "wrong" is that they are scaring away their market. If they don't have good Nintendo coverage, when a Wii-gamer goes to their site, they leave and don't come back.

50% install base, they should be working them to come to their site, not scare them away.

out of these 50% install base ( which is wrong), How many even know what IGN is? I guess maybe 12%>

How is this allowed?

seriously can/shouldn't they sack him?

This guy should be fired for an opinion?  IGN can't post anything negative about the Wii in a blog?  This is just a opinion from a guy who doesn't do reviews.

If you think about it, other than the thing about the Wii being overpriced by $100, and the Wii having no games since 2007, he's actually right.

He's right actually. The only playable games on the wii have been casual games or casualized games; spin-offs from hardcore franchises that have sacrificed some of the high challenge levels for accessibility. There hasnt been any good hardcore game for the Wii that was incredibly challenging or provided a deep or meaningful narrative experience. Nintendo has been focusing on the fun factor alone and this is why the wii and its games are looked upon as nothing but toys, rather than a system for providing meaningful interactive experiences (as opposed to non interactive but artistically acclaimed `medium of films).`For those wanting nothing but mindless escapism that may be a good thing, but for those looking for meaningful experiences the wii is a bust.

You are wrong, very wrong. Yes, the Wii had a horrible late 2008 game wise, but its still contained more games than the other consoles. If you look at this holiday season, the Wii actually have a better lineup than the PS3.

Remember it's not a worthwhile title!

*goes playing WSR too*

CURRENTLY PLAYING: Xenoblade (Wii), Super mario 3D land (3DS), Guild Wars (PC)

If he said 2008 I can kind of see where he is coming from, Wii hasn't had any truly great games for over a year now.

But....past 2007 we still got.

from Nintendo, 2 big titles he is missing.
