It's as people were saying, this is just nitpicking. The problems the guy mentioned is nothing serious to tarnish the game's quality.

What you just said, is the entire truth. If even FFVi never made it to GOTY candidate, it would be extremely difficult for any other FF to ever run for GOTY, as sad as that can be

The top 3 Final Fantasies that may be described as overlooked are as follows:

FF VI overlooked for Donkey Kong Country
FF VII overlooked for GoldenEye 007
FF X overlooked for Grand Theft Auto III

If they can't reach it, FF XIII sure isn't going to.


My thoughts exactly, and if you look at it, at that time, it was extremely strange the way FFVI was overlooked for DKC, not that i'm bashing DKC, i loved that game and it's one of my favourite SNES games along with DKC 2, but FFVI was leaps and bounds a better game than DKC

As far as we can go back in gaming history, no Final Fantasy has ever gotten remotely close to being the top runner in GOTY awards. I don't expect this to change now considering the wealth of titles releasing next year.

Blasphemy! DKC is the greatest thing EVAR! The platforming and graphics in FF VI were atrocious compared to DKC. I'll give it to the music though. They were equal in that regard.

Well, darth, if I'm not mistaken, more RPG awards at E3 went to Mass Effect 2 rather than FFXIII.

DKC was superior in many aspects to FFVI, but FFVI had the upper hand in music, depth and sheer playability. I don't mean this in a bad way, but DKC (the original) had a bit of level rehashing, especially in the Ruins kind of levels, they always felt like i was playing the same level over and over again.
Mind you, DKC 2 solved that problem, and that's why to me it's one of my top 10 SNES games of all time ;)

The game is still in development so they might fix those little tidbits later on. The lack of he FF Victory theme makes me kind of sad.
